To wonder what ‘good’ OT/SALT/paediatric support would look like?

Every interaction I have with these services on behalf on my DC is frustrating.

I am told that my DD doesn’t need support because she can’t do anything at an age appropriate level, so the fact she can’t dress herself is not a problem.

Or that we don’t qualify for speech therapy because she is ‘mostly’ intelligible.

Or that the answer is to repeat the words she mangles back to her correctly and this is all that’s required.

Or that I can’t have any help until she drinks a specified quantity every day. How do you make someone drink??

Or that best practice is for me to learn some coaching skills during six sessions and then I will be the one to carry out all her therapy with my amazing new found skills.

Is this really the best care available?

YABU: Of course, that’s a fantastic level of care. Why would anyone need more?

YANBU: There is a lot lacking here. It’s a sticking plaster and not fit for purpose.
