To think these AI chat bots aren’t all they’re cracked up to be?

I have used the Bing AI chat bot and I hate to say it, but I’m not very impressed.

It gets itself mixed up quite a lot, it repeats things that it’s already said in the same chat when I’ve asked it something completely different

for example, one of the things I asked it about was Liz Truss’ resignation as PM. It said she resigned as PM in March 2023 and that Boris resigned in October 2022, it also said that Liz Truss was in office for 9 weeks 🫤

I honestly expected it to be better!

It also said she was the first female prime minister since Margaret Thatcher’s tenure.. eh what about Theresa May?!?

Quite extreme errors I agree

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 26/08/2023 18:49

Well, it doesn't seem to be available for my browser, so that's a non-starter.

JudasPriest · 26/08/2023 18:51

ChatGPT says:
‘It sounds like you've had a frustrating experience with the Bing AI chat bot. It's disappointing when a chatbot doesn't meet expectations and provides inaccurate information. If you're looking for a more reliable AI chatbot, there are other options available that might offer better results.’

I must admit I disagree. Chat bots are a bit shit!

bellac11 · 26/08/2023 18:51

I dont know about general knowlege like that but trying to speak to someone on Amazon to ask a specific question is impossible, it sends you round and round in circles repeating the same information that you already clicked did not answer my question. Is there any way of speaking to someone real and by speaking I mean email at least

It must be that AI

There’s Google Bard (not sure how good it is either ) and chatGPT but it doesn’t have internet access and it’s knowledge only goes up to September 2021

Imagine if this post is a reverse from an AI chat bot? 😳

Summerishere123 · 26/08/2023 18:54

It depends how you use it. We have found it to be great. It rewrites our SM posts for our business and helped us write a business plan in a day rather than a week. We have even used it to help defend a legal case.

I told the chat bot that it was wrong about the information it provided re Liz Truss and it told me I was wrong and shut down the conversation ! 😂😳

I agree. AI has transformed work for me. I work in a managerial role in a tech company and in the past few months I've achieved more than in as many years using ChatGPT. I'm now the best informed and prepared, the quickest to understand a problem and deliver results, the source of different perspectives.

Of course you need to use it intelligently and critically, but harnessed correctly it is utterly transformative. Anyone who is not exploring and adapting their work around it will find themselves completely at sea within the next couple of years.

🤣 the chat bot should know we hate reverses on MN

HelterSkelter224 · 26/08/2023 20:10

They're very much in beta at the min - it's the potential for them to improve and get better and better that's fascinating!

tiredofthenoise · 26/08/2023 20:16

I wouldn't count on it for complete accuracy, but then again, I wouldn't count on search engines for unbiased information/results, either.

It has its uses. For instance, it offers a quick and easy way to jumpstart some of my work involving rewriting and paraphrasing. It's tiresome to write nearly the exact same information in a different way for the umpteenth time. AI does a decent job of quickly rewording things, which I use as a starting point. It does still require rearranging and finetuning to get it the way I want it, but it's a time-saver.

beeonmybonnett · 26/08/2023 23:16

I’m just disappointed that it can’t even get basic information right - I mean it literally has internet access and can find basic information out

They’re shit at facts. They literally make them up. It’s well known.

the best way to think of them is like a really sophisticated auto-complete. They’re very good at generating a lot of text on a subject, or rewriting something coherent from a draft (which is what other posters are using them for successfully).

I wonder if the developers could at least make them a bit more accurate when it comes to facts
