AIBU to ask how I can feel less intimidated by this member of my family

She enjoys game playing, push pull, discard and reel back, she is expert at deflecting … etc, I think after talking about it to friends she is a narcissist through and through and I wouldn’t use the word lightly but is so very sharp and intelligent about it and I feel like I can barely look her in the eye as it just makes me uneasy, like I am being scrutinised by her

I should know better by now than to let it get to me. If you have someone like this in your life, how do you rise above them & begin to genuinely not care about their opinion of you or their silly antics? I lie awake wondering if I could have done anything differently in situations but I just need a few methods of letting the bullshit go & removing myself personally from it.

I went completely NC with the narc in my family. Best thing I’ve ever done for myself.

I think it would upset other family members too much

But do these other family members get upset if she upsets you? You only get one life - please yourself not others.

Read stuff around not engaging. How not to get reeled in etc. So what if you are being scrutinised by her? Ignore.

I just must look to her as if she’s making me uneasy, I want to appear cool and collected if that makes sense
