Just found out I'm 8 weeks pregnant. Really weird - my last period seemed totally normal (super plus tampons and all).
In the last month I thought I had some sort of bug. Aching all over. Waking up drenched in sweat (mattress soaked). So I've been absolutely caning the ibuprofen, aspirin, herbal remedies. To the extent that, at one point, I thought "I really shouldn't take any more it'll be bad for my kidneys".
Also I've taken adhd meds (prescribed, but they're heavy going) and a couple of glasses of wine along the way.
Oh, and daily intense saunas to try to soothe aching limbs.
So basically a horror show in terms of things your GP would say don't do.
I want this baby and I am 41 (a risk in itself, though) so it's not like do-over territory.
You can't really tell about defects on the scan at this stage, the sonographer said. And of course some things aren't visible until well down the line.
But then we were all exposed to all sorts back when lead petrol was a thing... Right?
I can't believe this has happened. I truly had no idea and wouldn't have believed it was possible after what I thought was my last period but must have been a coincidental bleed.
