Will Naproxen gel caps still work that expired in January?

Not afraid of them being dangerous. Just wondering if their potency will be affected? I really rely on them for period pain and travelling today, wonder if I should chuck and get more?

Expired gel capsules must be used with a great deal of caution because they are sensitive to heat and humidity.

A pharmacist on here once said tablets are generally fine but liquid medications are less stable so will have reduced efficacy, I’d assume gel would be the same tbh.

How bad is it to take expired medication?

Chuck and get more - it's less stable and probably won't be as effective, no point taking expired less effective meds. The pharmacy (or whenever you get the prescription from) should be able to dispose when they issue the new ones 😊

Probably will still work

RoseAndRose · 20/08/2023 19:54

Chances are it will still work.

I don't think they'd be unsafe to take, so you may as well try because it would probably be easier to catch a unicorn than get replacements on a Sunday evening. And if it doesn't do the trick, sort it out tomorrow morning

Lol easier to catch a unicorn
