Posting here for traffic. I am struggling to get the bank to understand the structure of my child's surname for opening an account. I took the birth certificate to branch yesterday which they sent and have since received notification that it cannot be accepted without another proof that they are my child which I do not have.
My name - jemima puddleduck dumpling
Dads name - jack splatt
Kids name - pluto puddleduck splatt
My name on the birth certificate is jemima puddleduck only because that was my name at the time. I recently reregistered my birth with my dad added to my birth certificate and at that time added his name, dumpling, but that is not what's causing the confusion. My bank account has two surnames for me.
They are saying her name is splatt only and the names do not match.
I need to re visit the branch (third time as call centre provided incorrect opening hours for yesterday afternoon) but I'm wondering if anyone has any info I could arm myself with - unless I have got myself into this my re registering my birth. I know this isn't unusual to double barrel. I'm hoping my post makes sense as I've got myself into a frustrated flap.
