Moving to a new city and reinventing yourself?

Has anyone ever moved to a new city and completely reinvented yourself?

This is strange, I was born in one city and lived there for part of my childhood and I was never really bullied or targeted.

Then suddenly we moved to a new city, new school and I somehow became known as the shy geeky girl who was quiet and became seen as an easy target for bullies. I was mercilessly mocked for being a nerd and a geek and told I was not “cool” but apparently I thought I was

It probably didn’t have much to do with moving cities, maybe there was a social/family difference. I came from a two parent home with professional parents, close knit grandparents who we visited regularly. In the first city where we lived, I went to a private school and was surrounded by other people from the same or similar family background as me. In this new city, things were a lot different.

I have recently moved to another different city, I am told I live in the “posh part” (although I was just trying to look for a nice neighbourhood close enough to my workplace) and I am never bullied by anyone anymore. I am in the process of changing my style and fashion and I’m already noticing that the style changes I’ve been making have led me to be treated better. I walk into shops and people who work there go out of their way to help me - that didn’t happen in my old city. I notice in cafes people treat me a lot nicer.

Have you ever felt or experienced that moving to a new city can sometimes change your life in a positive way? Almost like you’ve reinvented your old self and are now a new person.
