AIBU to think that spider boys just need to look up?

So this is the second night in a row that my dd2 (18) has been woken up by spider boys on a mission to find a lady. Last night's Casanova, ended up running across her arm and upon her waking, spotting him and turning on a phone light, he then proceeded to run into her pillowcase! End of sleep.

I know that they do all the running (literally and metaphorically) for the ladies, but surely they're not so dense as to not see every flipping lady spood hanging around in the corner of the ceiling, with her lady friends, dancing around their handbags and likely waiting for the only boy spood who is sensible enough to just look upwards.

And whilst we're on it, once you've emptied out the pillow case, duvet, lifted the mattress, moved the bed, changed the bed etc, where are the buggers hiding? I can guarantee that he's disappeared for the day and will be there tonight, with his Lynx Africa on, ready for action.

Huh?

BalletBob · 12/08/2023 15:08

This made me chuckle but also filled me with anxiety about the start of spider season. Very mixed emotions.
Sorry for your DD. That would ruin sleep for me for weeks 😱

RightOnTheEdge · 12/08/2023 15:09

Thanks OP, that description will probably be what I am thinking about when I close my eyes to go to sleep tonight now 😱😭
I'd die a thousand deaths if one ran across me or my bed 😧

Needmorelego · 12/08/2023 15:09

Ha Ha 😂🕸️🕷️
I understand what you are on about @KnackeredBack !
Are these the type of spiders that the girl eats the boy afterwards? Cos maybe thats why he wants to make the chase longer🤔

cocoloco117 · 12/08/2023 15:09

Where are they hiding? In your pyjamas of course!

Habreathmint · 12/08/2023 15:09

Are you having a breakdown?

DrManhattan · 12/08/2023 15:10

All the breakdowns

Fiekcjdiwldnfjri · 12/08/2023 15:10

Trigger warning!!!

Lightningspeed · 12/08/2023 15:10

Oh god, is it starting early Shock. I'm so glad I have a cat to deploy these days, sorry horny spider bro's, she's not worth it anyway.

GalileoHumpkins · 12/08/2023 15:12

Spood? What music do spoods dance to?

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 12/08/2023 15:14

Spood? What music do spoods dance to?

Eight Legs A Week by The Beatles.

molotovcupcakes · 12/08/2023 15:15

Peppermint oil around the bed repels them apparently.

KnackeredBack · 12/08/2023 15:15

Sorry to anyone I've now given small nightmares too (8 legged ones).

Nope, not in PJs and yes, entirely possible on the breakdowns.....random noises at stupid o'clock, followed by "you bastard" and then "nope, not happening" from the next door room at 0500 hrs will do that to you!

KnackeredBack · 12/08/2023 15:19

Needmorelego nope, just your common or garden big UK night-time runners, so just spood loving, not spood eating.

This was hilarious to read Grin

ScarlettSunset · 12/08/2023 15:25

So you DD is happy to sleep with the female spiders above her but not happy with the male running across her? How else is he going to reach them? Maybe she could build a ladder or bridge for him? Perhaps one with an easy means of escape after too as those girls will eat him after given even half the chance!

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 12/08/2023 15:27

In my experience when living in a big old house with beams of wood across the ceiling, it was the massive humongous females that used to drop on us in the middle of the night.

I never once saw a male.

All HUGE females out and about what to make babies.

They used to drop on our faces.

ThisIsAGoodName · 12/08/2023 15:30

Why did I read this! I saw the biggest one of my life last night. It was hideous! Didn't sleep well and I know I won't again tonight!

Batshit1 · 12/08/2023 15:32

I used to have a massive spider phobia although I have worked really hard to overcome it as it was ruining my life for quite a long time. I still refuse to sleep in a bed that is against a wall, at the very least it had to be facing out into the room not positioned alongside the wall. My own bed doesn’t even have the headboard touching the wall. I’m sure this greatly reduces the number of spiders that end up in beds, although I accept there’s always the option of them parachuting in from the ceiling but that’s is less likely for the big house spiders who aren’t quite as acrobatic as the smaller guys!

AdoraBell · 12/08/2023 15:53

🤣🤣 I posted about one years ago whilst living overseas. That Casanova was using DD’s guitar to serenade the ladies.

LadyShimura · 12/08/2023 16:09

Last year, I was trying to get some sleep and felt something on the back of my thigh.

Got up to see a black dot in the darkness. Yep, fucking spider on my thigh.

He was straight out the window for that little invasion of personal space.
