To think hanging wind chimes outside a flat makes you an epic twat!

Walk passed a new estate of mainly flats today and one on the ground floor, which had a garden, had wind chimes clinking away.

If I lived around them I’d chop them down in the night.

On what planet do you think everyone around you wants to hear that tinkly shit!

Chop em down! Total nuisance

GilesRupert · 11/08/2023 20:13

Someone in my neighbourhood has those giant ones and as soon as I work out where they actually are I will cut them down during the night.

I do. It counters all the barking dogs.

How? How does adding to the cacophony help anyone?

TomatoSandwiches · 11/08/2023 20:15

I like them, I don't have them but I like hearing other people's.
I can understand why others detest them though.

BunnyBetChetwynnd · 11/08/2023 20:23

We have one, but it's inside our kitchen window. It was here when we moved in and we like it. Now I realise everyone thinks we're twats.

Off to stand in the garden to see if other people can hear it.

It’s what sets the dogs off here. Drives me mad.

Just realised i am also a twat.

MN really is a service. All the wind chimes gone!

LoveWindChimes · 28/06/2024 04:32

I love windchimes and have wanted them for years. I haven't to be considerate to the neighbours though. Now that the neighbours teenager is being inconsiderate, I've got myself the one I always dreamed of. Fair's fair.

Why aren’t you being considerate to all your other neighbours?

IsadoraQuagmire · 28/06/2024 07:06

I like windchimes. I've never had any myself, but I think it's a nice sound.

Fangisnotacoward · 28/06/2024 07:21

I don't mind wooden ones, they have quite a nice relaxing sound.
I don't like the tinkly metal ones

HandShoe · 28/06/2024 07:34

Our neighbours put some metal ones up last year 😭They’ve been clanging furiously in all the stormy autumn/winter weather, often when the neighbours themselves are off on holiday in sunnier places.
The neighbours the other side have a (lovely) loud dog and listen to the radio in the garden (often sport) neither of which annoy me. But the nasty metal tinkling is awful.

So do I. Honestly, if the day ever comes when I find wind chimes offensive then it's time to put me out to pasture. What a bunch of moaning minnies.

Why aren’t you being considerate to all your other neighbours?

I have plenty of land. They are far enough away they won't hear them. We only have one immediate neighbour.

Justleaveitblankthen · 28/06/2024 08:03

They are littering my local cemetery.
On every branch of every tree.

Sure they keep the Dead awake 🤨
