When society's bullies play the vulnerable card

I know this may seem like old news, but some poor woman got harassed, beaten and kneed in the privates by another woman. Now she can't use the toilet properly and has PTSD. The perpetrator seemed to get let off the hook by coming up with a sob story. Also get the feeling, had the perpetrator been male, the book would have been thrown at them (& rightly so).
Indeed I remember the violent shoplifters at work were the first to claim vulnerability due to anxiety and depression in order to access old and vulnerable shopping slots during build up to 1st lockdown

Vicious thug kneed woman so hard she can no longer go to the toilet properly

Jade King brutally kneed her victim so hard she had to spend 10 days in hospital and be fitted with a catheter in the vicious attack in Warrington town centre

Yes, given the circumstances, the severity of the victim’s injuries and the fact that the perpetrator also tried to intimidate her into not reporting it, it’s astonishing that this woman didn’t go to prison. Of course there are always mitigating factors and without actually being there to hear sentencing we don’t know the full picture of what was said in mitigation, and sentencing guidelines are complicated. But her attack on the victim was absolutely shocking and it also sounds like she deliberately went for her genital area which I personally think adds an element of sexual violence to the crime (although obviously that couldn’t be proved in court).

The point has been raised rather more sharply imo by the recent case of Jamie Starr raping poor Amber. The judge was required to take his age and poor upbringing into account in sentencing, and reduced the sentence. Her poor upbringing and age of course didn’t stop her being a target or lessen the offence against her.

All too often these are mitigations for males who offend against women, as most crime is perpetrated by men, so well done on finding a crime by women in order to raise the question.

I vaguely remember that the habit of reducing sentences came in in the eighties or early 90s - I would have been a teenager so not sure exactly - and the exact same questions were asked at the time. When do we decide free will is involved in a crime? Nevertheless crime is associated with difficulties in society - so why have our useless governments for the last 40 years, of both coloured and mixed colour ties, been so keen to impose and exacerbate those difficulties?

The one that always gets me is Alistair Campbell, made stuff up to start the Iraq war, bullied everyone around him and was proud of it.

Now portrays himself as a champion of mental health.

I don't understand how she got probation?

It seems sexually motivated (refusing to answer phone and harassing), violent, continued by adding death threats, then harassed her as a witness again with threats of violence. Plus lasting medical effect and PTSD.

HOW has a violent offender with no remorse who tried to intimidate the victim out of testifying not been sent to prison??
