To ask for people’s experience of the university of York

Just that really, it’s DD’s firm choice. Do you know someone who’s gone to York recently or did you go yourself? What was your experience? What advice would you give to someone starting there in September?

My daughter has just finished her first year. Has absolutely loved it and settled in well. Given she's autistic she has managed being here amazingly well. The support via the DSA and the university has been excellent. Downside is the lack of accomodation so if its a firm choice get your deposit down on the accomodation quickly.

Never get these isolated comments. I went there and felt very much part of the city.

Never heard a bad word about it , except for a few MNers!

Bits of the original campus could do with renovation. I think the colleges have maybe lost some of the college identity.

I loved it - admittedly graduated 2011 so a few years ago - but the campus was lovely, if a bit tired, student atmosphere was great fun but happy to study, links to the city were really good, (not isolated at all!), the whole 3 years I spent there had its ups and downs but I would 100% go back there again if I had my time over.
I would be so happy if my DS wanted to go there for uni and I still go back with DH & DS for holidays (I met DH there).

Dd has just graduated from there. She loved it. The city is lovely, not too big to be overwhelming. Had no problems with the uni itself and made some great friends.

DD loved it. It's a few hours away from us but I loved my weekends up there. Such a great City. She made great friends in the first year who she then lived with for next two years in two different houses. Made friends for life; got colours for sport; a first class degree and made the most of everything on offer. The ski trips were memorable, the lectures excellent; great facilities. Not a bad word to say about her experience.

What department?

I'd rather not say, but I'm student facing.
