Too feel lonely but what to do?

I'm 42, married and have one child who is 18 (and dog!).
I work from home 4 days a week, 1 day in the office and have a busy but enjoyable role.

DH works full time as does DS.

I feel so lonely in the evenings.

I've no family nearby, DH is always out - he coaches and plays a sport, or is out with friends (neither of which I'd ask him to stop). DS gets in from work and either sees the girlfriend or goes to the gym/plays sport. We rarely eat together as it's like a revolving door!

I just do....nothing. DH often invites me out with friends but I've no motivation. I would love a hobby of some sort but don't know what?! I used to like the gym but again find I'm lacking the get up and go?

I end up either on FB or here (ha!) feeling a bit crap!

I'm scared it will be like this forever if I don't do something.

Anyone else been in or is in this situation?

Do you have old friends that you could reconnect with?

What are your interests?

I am not married, but I'm lucky to have many friends from the different clubs and associations I belong to.
A few years ago I joined a group/club where we read the books of a specific author. I found the group online. It's kind of like a book club, but a bit more - we publish a yearly magazine about the author, and attend book fairs to inform about her. We also meet up regularly, both locally, and also a big annual meeting for members from the whole country. I have made so many friends from this club!

Could you and the dog join some kind of group? Take a course? Agility, obedience, rally obedience? A dog walking group?

Good luck!

I can't really meet up with old friends as they are around 30 miles away (I don't drive).

I am getting back into reading and a book club sounds really interesting actually!

Debating starting to learn to drive to give me some more freedom to be honest.
