UC and lodger under rent a room scheme

First time I have applied for UC. Is it correct that you can have a lodger as long as rent under £7500 per year as part of rent a room scheme?

It is classed as income but it’s just not taxed unless over £7500. They did that to encourage more people to rent put rooms. I think you have to declare it for UC purposes though.
