School bag for older teen girl

I was looking for a bag for school for DD15.
She isn't bothered by what she gets, I was just looking for a backpack but my friend said all older girls use tote style shoulder bags. Is this the case? Where do they put their water bottles?

Looking for some ideas plz

Handbags are a very popular choice and for my local school I would say pretty much the majority do, especially the older ones, though not all.

My DD had a rucksack though, so I would go with what your daughter wants.

The boys all have rucksacks, on both shoulders. Males are much kinder to their bodies then females.

She's not bothered at all.
I just think it's more practical to have a backpack

Dd had the same Kipling backpack for several years. Most kids at her school used a backpack

The "handbag crew" are a small subset locally and not really the group you'd want to be in at the local school! Practical backpacks are more the thing

But I know at a friend's daughters school handbags are more mainstream . So it really is school dependent!

Not really the group you’d want to be in 😆
I agree it’s very school dependent.
There are 2 groups at mine’s school who use the black tote / handbag style. They all look the same - but there’s the vaping truanting group and the top set sports team set. The backpacks are worn by the neeks - but mine (handbag toting hockey team reserve and art prize runner up) - says literally nobody gives a shit. There’s no bullying around your bag.

I don’t get the water bottle question. Just in the tote bag. Along with 3 different So sprays, usually.

Rucksacks definitely a better choice. I’d get a fairly plain black one. Ask her about brands. Vans and Hype seem popular here. The shoulder bags are silly, too small, not waterproof, bad for posture etc etc

Try New Look for black/grey fake leather rucksacks.

Thanks everyone, think I will stick to a backpack as it definitely is more practical!

Have a look on the Roka site, lots of great styles and colours.
