Because it boosts the profile of the football team and then benefits the local community. There's a whole Netflix documentary on it. BTW Ryan Reynolds is Canadian and Hugh Jackman is Australian.

Most people who own football clubs are foreign. A lot of the players and managers are, too. It's an international game. Would you like it if other countries stopped Brits from doing stuff?

Each to their own, no real difference when it's eg big brother, or Victoria Beckham etc and new product lines or when it's big fashion names etc

Ryan Reynolds is Canadian American and Rob MC Elhenney is American. Hugh Jackman has nothing to do with owning it - which really proves my point - they’re doing it for a laugh, a hoot, and everyone is falling over themselves about it. ‘Look we’re bringing another famous star along and we’ll all have a a pint in the dog and duck after.’ We’re mad us!

Two wealthy actors, one of whom is a massive film star, buy your local football club and start pumping money and attention into it, and you don’t know why people are so excited by it??!

Yeah, it’s a bit of a circus and it’s no doubt good for both their profiles. But frankly, who gives a shit? They’ve already helped them get out of a league that’s notoriously difficult to get out of and brought back league football.

The idea to purchase the club originally came from Rob McElhenney who came from quite humble beginnings in a working class area and specifically chose Wrexham as a club in a working class town. They aren’t just doing it for a laugh, they’ve really engaged with the wider community and boosted grass roots football clubs in the area and the women’s game. Prior to their takeover Wrexham was only really in the news for pretty negative events. I like the raised profile it’s given to my hometown and the life it’s breathed back into our football club

I live in the area and they are really engaging with the community and doing things to promote the Welsh language, it's not just about football.

So many more people know about Wrexham FC and its story now - this is one of the oldest football clubs in the world and it was crying out for owners that really cared.

There's a BBC documentary about the clubs history and some of the terrible owners of the past who tried to asset strip the club and sell off the stadium - you should watch that before passing comment.

@WandaWonder look at blackpool fc history. Run by criminals and rapists who destroyed the club because they could. An investor could do so much for the area not just the football team
