To call a Magnum a lolly?

My kids say I'm being ridiculous and it's an ice cream. I know it's made of ice cream but it's on a lolly stick therefore it's a lolly to me. Likewise a solero.

AIBU?

I know a fair bit about the ice cream supply chain and to be honest both words are used interchangeably to describe any ice cream line.

Personally I like to call milk or milk alternative based products ice creams and water/fruit juice based products lollies.

But what about Solero (fruit juice she ice cream) or as a PP said, twisters. Do people seriously call twisters an ice cream Shock?

Although having just Googled the definition of ice lolly, I might have to eat my words! 😁

  1. a confection in the form of a piece of flavoured ice or ice cream on a stick.

RESULT! Thank you Google! Can't wait to tell my kids.

If it helps, Tesco classify Magnums etc as ‘Ice Cream Sticks’.

It's definitely a lolly as it's on a stick.
From my childhood I remember 'funny feet'. No idea if you can still get them but they were lollies too.

I loved funny feet.
Definitely a lolly, not an ice lolly.
I usually ask if anyone wants a magnum, but they are fake ones in my house so I as anyone want a fake magnum.
Dh calls anything sweet and frozen on a stick a popsicle. Ones not made from ice a fudgesicle

MerryMarigold · 02/08/2023 23:04

@MammaTill2Pojkar , a corn dog is not on a lolly stick so it's not a lolly. Neither is a kebab.

A solero is also an ice cream.
Not sure what a twister is tbh I haven’t had one for years!

Tryingtogetonwithit · 02/08/2023 23:05

Ice cream on a stick in our house

Moveoverdarlin · 02/08/2023 23:05

It’s a lolly.

woodhill · 02/08/2023 23:05

It's on a lolly stick though

Jobalob · 02/08/2023 23:06

Anything iced on a stick is a lolly

MerryMarigold · 02/08/2023 23:06

@MrsCarson , I would never call a Magnum an ICE lolly, just a lolly.

And yes, funny feet were amazing.

Mini milks, they are lollies too right.

woodhill · 02/08/2023 23:06

Solero to me is an ice lolly like a mivi (remember)

woodhill · 02/08/2023 23:08

Space 99 and that lolly choc bomb thing with 100s and 1000s on it

Wish they still existed and the feet ones

I think the Magnum = lollies might be winning. 🎉🍭🍦

Somehow that is even worse! A lolly is like a chubba chups, a candy lolly only

maras2 · 02/08/2023 23:12

I knew that my boyfriend loved me when he bought me a Mivi during the intermission of Dr. Zhivago.
We're still together 50 years on. Smile

Stickytoastandhoney · 02/08/2023 23:15

Magnums and Soleros are ice cream
The creamy part in a twister isn’t really ice cream, more like the mini milk which is an ice lolly 😁

NewShoes · 02/08/2023 23:23

Magnums are ice creams, definitely not lollies! Lollies in my book are frozen juice type confections. Lollipops the small stick based sweets.

Yep. Mini milks are lollies too.
And so are Feasts and Fabs as far as I'm concerned

RightOnTheEdge · 02/08/2023 23:28

They are definitely a type of lolly. They are on a stick!
I don't know why everyone is going on about them not being an ice lolly when the OP never said that.

RitzyMcFitzy · 02/08/2023 23:35

In my book if it's on a stick it's an ice-pop. A Magnum is an ice-pop.

An inferior one at that.
