To ask if anyone knows ANYWHERE that will be dry this weekend in UK?

Got family here. Need something to do on Sunday. Everywhere in the SE is going to be wet. Willing to drive somewhere that won’t be but I suspect most places are going to be rainy!

also does anyone know of a weather app or website where you can pull up the weather in all Uk for a particular day? I’m sure there is but I couldn’t find it on bbc or met!

Sorry I'm sw, light rain both days, dry in evenings

NeedToKnow101 · 01/08/2023 08:49

Get your anoraks on or do something indoors?

Romitofrincone · 01/08/2023 08:52

Thanks, really needing an outdoor thing for various reasons! Think we will have to get our anoraks out.

Met Office reckons Winchester will be dry on Sunday, so there hopefully will be a few dry pockets in the SE!

Romitofrincone · 01/08/2023 09:06

Oh Winchester sounds like a possibility - thank you!

Also does anyone know why there’s such a difference between BBC weather and Met weather forecasts?

Forecast. Not fires 🔥

I love a forest if it's a bit rainy. It offers a bit of protection from the rain, and smells nice!
So walk in forest near you.

The Met office app has all-U.K. weather map where you can see the forecast rain coverage. It only does a 5 day forecast so it doesn’t show all of Sunday yet, looks like this for Saturday

I’m in South Devon and the forecast is nice for Sunday, bit of a trek for you from the SE though.

Also does anyone know why there’s such a difference between BBC weather and Met weather forecasts?

Because the BBC stopped taking weather data from the Met Office some years ago. Last time I looked it came from the Spanish 'Met Office'. Weather forecasting is done on modelling that based on assumptions, so slight tweaks to the assumptions can produce quite a different forecast.

I find the BBC weather pessimistic these days, eg over-states the probability of rain both in percentage terms and also the summary icon for each day, compared with the expanded hourly indicators. If the percentage of rain is said to be less than 50% it will usually be mostly dry with occasional showers, rather than full on rain all day.

But it's probably too soon to tell what the weather will be like at the weekend, and it is likely to change several times between now and then. But it will almost certainly be 'sunshine and showers' but who's to say what the percentage of each will be - I agree that if you want to go out somewhere, the Met Office rainfall radar map is a good indicator of where is likely to get the least rain.

BBC weather is always right here. Met office isn't.

greenmarsupial · 01/08/2023 10:18

North Norfolk looks dry all weekend.

CuriositysCat · 01/08/2023 10:20

Try accuweather - generally pretty accurate.

Sunnyweatherwoman · 01/08/2023 10:32

I follow bbc weather, that with a scotland wide weather guy on facebook. He's pretty good, maybe you have similar?

DinnaeFashYersel · 01/08/2023 10:38

I am going camping to the west of Paisley this weekend and the forecast is great - dry for 10 days.

I live on the east coast the forecast there has 9 out of 10 days dry.

NeedToKnow101 · 01/08/2023 12:31

I find BBC really accurate, but you have to click on the day as if there is ANY rain, it will have a rain icon, even if it's just a 60% chance of rain for an hour.

ssd · 02/08/2023 10:29

I hope its dry for you @DinnaeFashYersel , i live that distance from Paisley and its wet.
We're going away a couple of days this week and it doesn't look great anywhere.

ssd · 02/08/2023 10:31

And east neuk and north Berwick rain is forecast all week.

Where are you seeing its dry?

APurpleSquirrel · 02/08/2023 10:40

Parts of the Sw look dry on Sunday.
