Its becoming quite apparent now the climate change debate is now at a point where both deniers and activists are destroying any civilised debate on the subject.
It feels as though most groups, politicians and parties are equally point scoring on an important issue to push their agenda and it is killing civilised debate for normal people. Following covid cast swarth's of people no longer trust scientists and others just want to cause disruption as much as possible and stick it to the government or the man.
Its a fact that the climate has always changed over the worlds history, we have hot periods and periods of freezing and that climate change is not a new phenomenon its part of the worlds natural cycle over millions of years. But yet down to the dam right poor reporting in the news and press the real issue is not being discussed or considered.
One one hand you have people who say its always happened and others saying the world is going to burst into flames in a matter of years.
Yet no one hardly every actually discusses the actual reason man made climate change is an issue to concern us all is that the speed of which man made climate change (anthropogenic effects) are thought to be speeding up the rate of climate change and the main issue is that biodiversity and species are not able to adapt at the current speed at which change is occurring even if its take the next 500 years.
In all previous changes to the earths temperatures when it was for far hotter and colder, the speed at which the change occurred was gradual compared to now and species could adapt and migrate. Even the humble Oak tree would migrate over 1000`s of years north and south as the temperatures changed.
Current trends show that we may loose most of our biodiversity through the simple fact they cannot move or evolve fast enough with anthropogenic change to climate. Biodiversity and species all provide our ecosystem services, food, clean are and life.
It would be nice to see a bit more nuance debate around climate, I'm not asking any one to stop eating meat or stop buying ICE cars etc. I enjoy both but it would be nice if people could look at the actual wider picture and facts that what the narrow blinkered view the media is churning out.
Maybe look out for your own wildlife, leave water out for the birds and hedgehogs etc., in hot weather and provide shelter when it is bad. Tackling climate is not just about CO2e and the tiny changes the UK can do alone but we can support the UKs own species.
