To ask if anyone else has had this new kind of romance scamming on Facebook?

Instead of a friend request they reply to a comment you make on a Facebook page, saying you look lovely blah blah and want to be friends, and ask you to send them a friend request because they don’t seem to be able to send you one. I had a look at the profile of one of these comment and it was obviously fake, no friends or anything.

Yes had a few, just delete and block.

It's been going on for years.

Of course. I just block.

Seen loads. I don't get them but then again I don't have a profile picture.

Well it’s new to me. I’m used to the ones where they send frequency requests obviously.

Most of them are bots

There’s dozens of them on every public post I see. Mostly bots, some more sophisticated.

It wasn't an American army officer in full uniform, was it? 😂

Had loads over the years, they target middle aged women as they assume we are all lonely and desperate 🤣 easy to spot though, they’re usually recently created accounts where the only activity has been them swapping the profile pic a few times. And yes, they’re usually American servicemen/surgeons. Be still my beating heart!
