I’ve always been super close with my nan but since having my baby 9 months ago everything changed. I would call to her house for a cuppa about 3/4 times a week and we would have the chats. For context - she’s not particularly old and I’m 25 and we loved having a wee gossip.

Ever since my daughter was born my nan has started to get on my nerves. Took her over a week to come up and visit us after the birth even though throughout the pregnancy she was saying she’ll come visit as soon as she’s born lol. Fast forward to now- she belittles my parenting; takes my crying baby from me to try and comfort her herself; criticised my feeding style (blw); feeds her biscuits with milk as an ingredient even though she has an allergy; FaceTimes me up to 4 times a day and does not speak to me!! only wants to see/talk to my daughter and I’m getting fed up with it.

just came back from holiday (the 4x daily phonecalls continued through this, alongside passive aggressive “your mummy better bring you down to me when you’re home and you better not be strange with me!!”) and I’ve been getting grief for not taking her down to visit as I’ve been busy. I don’t even enjoy visiting anymore as it’s as if I’m not there, no one speaks to me they just hype my daughter up for hours and don’t listen to me when I say I need to take her home (30 mins away) for a nap as she’s overtired.

Just got off this evenings FaceTime where she informed me she would be picking my daughter up tomorrow and requested that I basically pack up half the house to send down with her. I cannot be bothered. I just find it rude that she can’t even come up and visit in my own house for a while and then leave, or at least make an effort to include me!
