Hair in food in restaurant

I just found blonde hair in a spaghetti carbonara in a restaurant. It came from the bottom of the bowl and I felt sick. I complained of course and was introduced to the two short brown haired chefs and none of the waitresses are blonde.

I am blonde. But I know my hair didn't fall in the food as it's pinned up. It wouldn't have fallen in the bottom of the bowl either. I didn't want to make a scene in front of other diners so I paid up and refused the free coffee, as I need to be somewhere else.

I know it wasn't from my head!

Should I have made more of a fuss?

It could easily have been your hair. Could have already been on your clothes or caught on a watch/ ring/ bracket.

Yeah the hair could be yours. Spaghetti is a twisty dish, you could have easily twisted it in there right the bottom. I don’t think you could have made more of a fuss seeing as they said no one was blonde. Unless it was other diner! But if you’re really that bothered I hope you saved it for a dna test. You can get them in quality save now.

Not if the OP pulled it from the bottom of the bowl - i.e. under the pasta.

It would really put me off, TBH. I doubt I'd make a fuss because I shrink at that kind of thing, but I'd not be going to that restaurant again.

No, you really don't. Occam's Razor, op. A thin strand of your hair could have easily gotten twirled underneath your pasta.

Let's rationalise this and ignore the ick factor.

Let's say it was someone else's hair, even though the most obvious explanation is that it's your own. What bad thing do you think will happen from it being in your food? It won't make you ill. It won't hurt you.

I wouldn't have kicked up more of a fuss.

Maybe you should share stories with the other blonde poster who has been finding blonde hairs where they don't belong.

DealingWithDogs · 26/07/2023 18:17

It was probably yours.

If it wasn’t, I dare say you’ve eaten worse.

There is fuck all you can do, it won’t cause any harm anyway so forget about it.

NotThoseKindOfEggs · 26/07/2023 18:18

It wasn’t a short and curly so it seems like a genuine accident (although I still wouldn’t want a hairy dinner, of any kind). Not much you, or them, can do about it.

I had this as a server once. Served a closed lid pie to a customer who then found a hair in it half way through. Both chefs were bald.

It was 100% hers.
