QUICK! To eat 4 day old pizza?!

I’m prepared to be told it’s disgusting BUT we ordered pizza on Friday night, barely ate any and put the rest in fridge. Didn’t eat it over the weekend for various reasons and now I’m 5 gins in wondering if I could heat it up and it’d be fine??

Did you eat it? Air fryer is great for reheating pizza.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/07/2023 05:38

I'd have eaten it. Quick sniff is all you need.

ThinWomansBrain · 26/07/2023 05:43

I probably wouldn't. But then I am very unlikely to have left over pizza to start with.
Depends on the topping I think.

Did you?

I found the last portion of lasagne in the fridge that was 10 days old. I ate it, it was delicious and had no issues at all. My lasagne takes 3 hours to make.

Scalottia · 26/07/2023 05:52

I would eat it.

Also heating food thoroughly doesn't mean it is safe. The bacterial toxins can sometimes survive this - just so you know.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/07/2023 05:53

Salami is probably fine anyway, it's cured and salted within an inch of its life.

Have none of you ever seen those shops on the continent with all the cured meat on display at (Mediterranean summer) room temperature? We're ridiculous about food hygiene in the UK.

I don't think I'd ever have pizza sitting around for 4 days without having eaten it already but if I was presented with with the opportunity I'd definitely eat it provided it looked and smelled OK.

No! It will be rancid and revolting after this long

It will absolutely not be either of those things. It's a pizza that's been in the fridge, not a raw chicken sitting on a radiator.

I have never in my life encountered so many people with wildly distorted notions of hygiene and food safety as I have on Mumsnet.

Oh I'm too late, soz

GeorgiaGirl52 · 27/07/2023 02:19

That's what a refrigerator is for. So we can keep food longer. Of course it will be fine - eat it cold or reheat it.

theGooHasGone · 27/07/2023 02:58

After 4 days in the fridge the crust is going to be rock hard. The toppings are the least of your worries.

Frances0911 · 27/07/2023 04:35

Shop bought pizzas are way older than four days, though I guess they have more preservatives.
