The torture of the Ticketmaster Queue

I am currently in an online queue for Coldplay tickets, been here an hour and a half already so looking increasingly unlikely I'll get tickets. Spent a massive chunk of last Thursday also queuing on Ticketmaster for Taylor Swift, wasn't successful.

AIBU to want to go back to the 90s when you physically queued outside the likes of HMV? At least there was a bit of crack to be had with fellow queuers and you were getting updates on how many tickets were left so could easily work out if you were in with a chance or whether you should risk running to the smaller record store on the other side of town to see what they had left. There was also nothing like the satisfaction of leaving the store waving your ticket at all those still in the queue 🤣

I think one of the clauses that a new Consumer Act should include is about ticket purchase. The ballot system used for Lords cricket would be far better than queueing.

Though I consciously uncoupled myself from listening to Coldplay a long time ago.

There was a ballot for Taylor Swift. If you were picked, you earned the right to queue. 😁

Doesn't work anymore because you've to log into Ticketmaster so if you're on multiple devices you are still the same place in the queue and often get chucked out because they think you're a bot. You need multiple people on multiple devices 😛

@Dulra It does if you’re waiting on multiple ticket sellers! I went to two different dates of the same tour for a band last week and bought through different vendors, worked a treat!

Ah, we're in Ireland and Ticketmaster is the only show in town 😡

We failed to get tickets for the concerts in Manchester, this year, DD got thrown out of the queue when otherwise she would've got in, and I got confused when they kept announcing new dates and ended up back at the beginning. I had to go out for an hour but left my computer running, and when I got back I got in but must've just missed them as I was able to click on tickets, but then they'd gone by the time I got through to the next screen.

Is the pre-sale this time just for pre-registrations?

I had a pre sale code and magically got allocated tickets after 90 minutes, I was very excited until I saw the basket price!! It was over 1200 euros for 4 seated tickets and row CC or something so nowhere near a decent seat. We'd roughly planned a girls weekend (me and my 3 dd's) but when I quickly looked on booking.com realised that 2 hotel rooms were going to cost the same again and I hadn't even looked at flights or airport parking. They weren't VIP either, just offical souvenir ones. I nearly cried but I let them go again. We've already seen them at Cardiff and Wembley on this tour, so I really was just being a bit greedy.

After the horror of trying to get Taylor Swift tickets too, I'm all out of Ticketmaster patience for this year.

Modern Life Is Rubbish

I spent a morning crying about this when I wanted to get tickets for the Foo Fighters. I met a friend fir a coffee bit didn’t want to in case I lost phone coverage. I then die t more time in Costa couching the opinions of any random stranger as to the likelihood, or otherwise of my success. Still crying bit also laughing as my friend was laughing so much then other friend had a funny turn and we had to call an ambulance.. not on my phone.. thankfully she rallied and it was just a bit mad. Got the tickets . Guess what? Didn’t go? That’s another story! Good luck!
