To think Plum Play need to get their act together? (Trampoline related).

I bought ds2 a trampoline. I went to build it. Two of the parts that make the big metal circle don't slot together properly. So building came to a halt.

2nd June: Emailed them ALL the info. Autoreply with a ticket number.

27th June: Got a reply. Asking for info I'd already sent them.

My Gmail struggled to send this with the attached photos and queued it which I didn't notice at first.

2nd July. I noticed the last email with the requested images was stuck queued and emailed them again, through a different email so I could attach the requested images that they already had on 2nd June. 🙄 I gave them all the info again and my original "ticket number" and email address from 2nd June. Received an autoreply with a new ticket number.

22nd July. Still no response. Emailed them a complaint. Giving both ticket numbers, all the info etc.

25th July. Still no reply or resolution. 😡 Sent another email with a complaint.

Would I buy from plum again? Nope.

Would I like to get this trampoline finally built for ds2 at some point this summer? Yes. 😔

AIBU to think this should have been resolved by now? I'm so frustrated.

I just don't know what to do. I've tried and tried to get them to sort it out.

I can't afford to just write it off and buy another one. That's not a financial possibility.

All I wanted was them to send me some non-faulty parts.

Did you buy directly through them? I had an issue with a Plum swing I bought through Amazon a couple of months ago. Over half of it was missing, they responded but were really difficult/took ages. I eventually got a refund but I just kept sending them pictures of what they'd sent me & repeating the same message! They are meant to be collecting the swing which is actually one piece of wood & an open box of swing bits but it's still on my driveway waiting! I read that there were lots of issues late May/early June!

LadyBirdsLoveEm · 26/07/2023 07:38

I bought it via Aldi website.

I don't think Aldi would do anything though, wouldn't they just direct me to the manufacturer?

I might email Aldi too then. 😔

I'd just return it

LadyBirdsLoveEm · 26/07/2023 07:41

Ah. I'd already messaged them and forgotten about it. They said contact plum.

It's been sat half built in my garden for nearly two months now. All the boxes are all weathered so would be no good to repack it in, and three quarters of the huge ten foot wide metal circle are built.

Plus I ordered it online from Aldi (because it was big and heavy) rather than buying it by hand in a shop.

Why have you let it rot to an unreturnable state? I dont understand why you didnt just return to Aldi as soon as you seen it was faulty Confused

OrangeySnicket · 26/07/2023 07:49

Next time just take it straight back to the shop. They're responsible as much as the manufacturer so can't fob you off by saying you need to contact Plum.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 26/07/2023 07:50

You should have just returned it to ALDI.

I doubt you'll get very far now if it's been sat out in the rain for two months and you haven't even kept the boxes 😬

So you haven't even been in touch with Aldi? Confused

You bought the item from Aldi, you should have returned it to them for a refund.

Dont let Aldi fob you off. You bought if from them therefore your contract is with them, not the manufacturer. Get on the phone to them and tell them to pull their finger out. Post on their twitter and FB accounts as well

This is a mental take. Where do you suppose OP might store the boxes? I bet they're massive. If the trampoline had had all its component parts, the boxes would be long gone by now and OPs kid would be enjoying their trampoline.

bestbefore · 26/07/2023 08:49

Phone them!

Aldi are who you need to talk to. Your rights through the Consumer Rights Act are with the retailer. You need to do this ASAP to get a repair/ replacement.

Muststopeating · 26/07/2023 08:57

Phone/email Aldi. You have proof that you immediately contacted manufacturer. They would refer you there if you just wanted parts. But at this point the parts aren't forthcoming and therefore you need a refund. I'd give up wasting time on the manufacturer.

If they want to collect the item (they might not) then inform them that they'll have to send a suitably sized box as you did not have room to store the box.

You will get your money back from Aldi, just keep pursuing.

If for any reason you don't and it was purchased on a credit card and over £100 you can get your money back that way (Visa Debit also has some protection but you'd have to Google that). I actually did it for the first time ever a couple of years ago (for over £1000) and it was a very straight forward process.

The only place I've ever seen make a fuss about the original box was Parker... We had the box so they made a fuss about something else to avoid paying out on warranty! Never ever buy anything from Parker they are awful!

Whats mental was realising it was not fit for purpose and not packing it back up and returning it the same day to Aldi.

I had a tv delivered yesterday, it is not what I was expecting and will not work where I want it to. Do I A) sit and wait 2 months then make a post on MN complaining Samsung wont sort the issue? or B) pack it up and send it back to where I bought it for a refund?

She tried to get replacement parts... Which was a good stance... Better for the manufacturer, the retailer and the environment as less CO2 in massive deliveries and less waste. Plus shoulda woulda coulda really isn't helpful!

LadyBirdsLoveEm · 26/07/2023 10:09

If I could physically heft a ten foot trampoline in and out of a store I'd have bought one instore.

When I found out the parts were faulty I emailed the same day. Got a customer service ticket and autoreply and patiently waited thinking they were a big reputable company and they'd sort it no problem.

It was also the middle of a lovely stretch of hot weather so I didn't see an issue with waiting say a week with it part built in the garden while they sent me replacement parts.

To me the bonkers idea would be unassembling the bit I'd built, packing it all back up in the two enormous boxes and somehow transforming myself into some sort of she hulk and depositing in in my local Aldi. 🤣

Thank you to those advising to go via Aldi or my card I used. If it's not sorted in the next 24 hours then that will be my next step I think.

I honestly thought it would be a simple process of them just sending me the two parts I needed and job done.

It's been such a frustrating farce.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 26/07/2023 10:26

When something you buy isn't fit for purpose you need to get in touch with the company you bought it from, not the manufacturer.

I'm really not convinced you'll get anywhere with ALDI after two months - it's not as if it broke on you, you bought it like this and didn't bother to contact them Confused

LadyBirdsLoveEm · 26/07/2023 10:28

I did contact them and they told me to contact plum. Which I did.

I'd actually forgotten I'd contacted Aldi until I went into my messages.
