To not take baby out of car seat

I was reading another thread about going into the shop and leaving your child in the car.

it got me thinking…
when I fill up with petrol I leave my daughter in her car seat. I don’t take her out to go and pay.
What do you all do? I know there will be people on here that say absolutely not, but for me.. the chances of carrying her across the station, her having a strop and wanting to walk is a greater risk than leaving her for 2 mins whilst I pay.

If I can see there is a huge queue I’ll get her out but to me it just feels safer (and quicker!) to leave her chilling or asleep whilst I run to pay.

what do you think?

YABU - get the kids out and take them in
YANBU - 2 mins in an open area where you can see the car is fine

Brown up now but always left them safely in a locked car. Also did all almost our food shopping daily in a tiny Tesco express with windows overlooking the car park for that same reason.

I always use pay at the pump. If that's not available then I wouldn't get fuel if I had any of my children with me as I couldn't be doing with getting them out of the car to go in and pay but I definitely wouldn't leave them in the car either.

I do this all the time. The younger they are the safer they are actually as they have little to no ability of escaping from their seat nor setting off the alarm when you look the car. 99% of the time my DS is giggling away or just staring out the window when I return.

Lol the long queue does panic me and I find myself getting irritated at dottery people dillydallying!!!

One small baby is portable but once you have a toddler or a toddler and baby definitely safer in car.

@Pregnantandsweaty leaving her in the car is fine. Someone(s) will be along to 'warn' you about car hijacking, cars combusting & aliens.

it's paranoid dramatics, she's far safer in the car while you pay for petrol.
