Agh! I'm abroad and my passport photo has got a crease through it

I'm abroad (Asia) about to take several internal fights. Somehow, between arrival and now, the passport - page where photo is - has got creases. The crease runs through the photo - clearly. It doesn't mask the numbers below but it runs across my face.

I'm freaking out a bit that it's an issue and a) I won't be able to get around the country on internal flights and b) I won't be let into the UK

Any thoughts?

Bumping for you

Isn't the photo page solid plastic for the last 20 years or so to prevent that happening? If it's electronic, all the details will be encoded on it as well, so it shouldn't be an issue. If it's recognisably you except for the crease it shouldn't be an issue.

It's def not 'solid' plastic and it def happened! That's good to know but I'm wondering whether I need to go the British embassy here and ask

It won’t be a problem for the internal flights. And I doubt it will be a major issue coming back to the UK either as long as it’s still clearly you. You might be advised to get a new one for next time you travel though.

Won't be an issue getting back into the uk - especially if you have alternative photo ID with you (driving licence?).
I'd have been more worried about the internal flights, but the PP seems to think no issue there.

It'll be fine. I put my passport through the wash while abroad once and had to dry it off with a hair dryer. It was completely fucked. Still got me home no bother

Crushmonsters · 19/07/2023 20:33

Ok, thanks all - that's reassuring

Not sure what to do re internals.

You don't need a passport but you do need ID - (local ID like a work permit etc) I'd hate to be turned away
