Or are buskers too loud these days?

They all seem to have amps. I walk through my town and you can hear them from miles away and when in the same street you can hardly chat with folk over the noise.

Now I love buskers, and would always in the past, stop and listen to the good ones, pitched up in a place with good acoustics, without amps and chuck some dosh their way for their efforts. But now it’s like I HAVE to hear them, even when I don’t particularly like their tunes. Must be hellish for local shop workers having the noise piercing through everything.

I agree. I love music of many kinds, but I hate amplified music outdoors. It's really antisocial and intrusive. Buskers who use amps seem to be saying "You WILL listen to me, whether you like it or not!"

"You WILL listen to me, whether you like it or not!"

Yes, that’s it exactly.

I absolutely hate it. I work in a busy city centre, just off the main high street and there are three or more buskers there at any time. One I can hear from my office very clearly. If you walk down the street, the sound overlaps and it's just so loud!

Yes, they are very intrusive. I particularly dislike the ones "singing" along to what is clearly their Spotify playlist, or poorly signing along to songs. And then hearing their WhatsApp notifications pinging over the amplifier. 🙄
