To want OVO Energy to fuck off and leave me alone?

My Mum died late last year. It took forever to sort out the paperwork as she had bits of money everywhere, and now probate is dragging on.

My Mum’s house is empty; we have put some lights on timers. Her account with Ovo was, and still is, in credit to the tune of several hundreds of pounds. I’ve explained this, and have regularly sent meter readings, as they have sent estimated bills saying we owe them thousands.

We’re now getting letters saying they have passed our details on to a different company to “help us with our situation” and saying “we haven’t heard from you for a while, you need to send us a meter reading.” I’ve sent meter readings monthly, they get acknowledged by the bereavement team at OVO, but then I get these letters from Phillips and Cohen, who are a debt collection agency. The account is still in credit. I want them to fuck off and leave me alone until the estate is sorted - of course we will pay any bills once we owe any money. But right now, there is no debt.

I would make a complaint to the bereavement team.

I have done so but it looks like the bereavement team are the ones who have passed our details on to Phillips & Cohen. So goodness only knows what Ovo have told them.

Yes. Do the above and also state "I'm unhappy with your Service" to which they should respond "do you want a complaint", if not state "I'm starting a complaint, log it and also provide your resolution details and ombudsman".

Starting complaints with these fuckers are the only way they listen.

You can actually do this on Ovo.

I wonder if the regulator should be made aware, or Ombudsman as suggested. And if you have a decent one, perhaps contact your MP to make them aware.

Call them back, log a complaint. Take it to ombudsman if they don't resolve. www.resolver.co.uk is actually the quickest. State how much stress and anxiety this is providing.

Get them on Twitter. It seems like the only way to get companies to sort things out is by addressing them publicly.
