Exactly that. I didn't think about it. Tetanus is up to date.

DC and partner coming out a few days later. Same question applies to them.

We could still have it this week, but concern is that it takes a while to kick in.

Should I still have it done? Should I be worried if I don't do it?

Is it recommended to have this for travel by the government or NHS? I've never been so not sure but if it is you may need to check your travel insurance would be valid if you didn't have the relevant recommended vaccinations for your trip

It's not essential. it's advisory

Its on the list to be considered but not on the essential list

Googling suggests it usually takes 2 weeks to start working with the shortest time being 12 days. How long will you be away?

P.s. apparently 1 dose does you for about 1 year but if you get a 2nd dose 9-12 months after the 1st it does you for 20/25 years+

I forgot to get the booster! Doh.

I will be away for 3 weeks from this Sunday. I've got an appointment for a booster on Wed am, but wondering if worth it

If you get it done on Wednesday, you’ll be covered for the second half of your holiday. I think I would, if I were you.

How late are you for the booster? Found this online.

How long does a hepatitis A vaccine last?

A second dose of the vaccine 6-12 months after the first gives protection for about 20 years. If you are late with this second dose, you should have it as soon as possible but you don't need to start with the first dose again. Another booster dose of hepatitis A vaccine after 20 years can be given to those people still at risk of infection.

toosweaty · 10/07/2023 18:07

I'm three years late!

Maybe a bit over then! Might be worth getting the 2 doses all over again then
