Can 1 year old and 3 year old share a double bed ?

With bed rails on the sides so they can't fall out ?

More exact, they're 3.5 years and 15 months old.

I'm not sure it's safe..

It's a small double bed.

I wouldn't, no.

Motnight · 09/07/2023 22:10

I would say absolutely not. Surely there's a risk of suffocation?

Needmorelego · 09/07/2023 22:10

It would be safe. I can’t see why it wouldn’t.
They might annoy/disturb each other though.

Sapphire387 · 09/07/2023 22:11

Mine did but without the double duvet and loads of pillows etc. They each had their own little sleeping bag. Think they started around that age, but tbh might have been more towards 18m for the youngest.

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 09/07/2023 22:11

Why on earth wouldn't it be safe? Am I missing something here? 3.5 and 15 months are fine with pillows and duvets ect.

I would however be worried about little on falling jf they tried to get up and off the bed.

How about popping the mattress on the floor op?

pinksquash13 · 09/07/2023 22:13

I can't see why it wouldn't be safe. If they are generally good sleepers, could work quite well.

Recipe for mould.

Worried about the older one trapping the younger one by accident by leaning on him or something like that.

I'd think it would be absolutely fine. Half the times at that age they all ended up in our bed so I don't see the difference.

Needmorelego · 09/07/2023 22:22

@babyshar how much bigger in size are they? Some 15 month olds are big toddler size, some are still babies (if that makes sense).
I think that might be the only issue if your older one is much bigger.

At the moment we are talking 11kg vs 14-15 kgs..

3 and a half year old is around two heads taller.

The little one is not small for his age and walking / running etc. but when they tumble around playing, I do worry he'll get hurt sometimes... his sister does just lie on top of his chest and stuff like that sometimes. He handles it ok, but sometimes cries. Of course I don't let it happen for long, for fear of squashing..
