Why is my chin suddenly full of painful pimples?

Seriously?
This has never happened to me before, they are like ’under the skin’ I can’t pop these, they are huge, hurt so bad and there are so many of them!
I have had notmal pimples, those that you can pop every once in awhile, but this is totally new.
What do I do?
They were just suddenly there yesterday and now today two more!

All in my chin and around of my mouth.
No medication or change of medication, I haven’t done or eaten anything new.
I’m in my mid 30’s.

Could it be molluscum? I had that as an adult, lasted about six months and it was all over my neck. Bleurgh. Sympathies, OP.

tescocreditcard · 09/07/2023 19:19

It could be a sign of polycystic ovaries.

EsmeSusanOgg · 09/07/2023 19:20

This is one where we may need a photo. There are a few different things it could be!

noglow · 09/07/2023 19:21

Hormones?

I would advise you to seek GP advice if it seems to be getting worse.

tescocreditcard · 09/07/2023 19:22

I would definately visit the GP for this. Acne in 30 years olds probably has some kind of underlying cause. And specifically, acne around the mouth and chin area is hormonal.

SunnyDoc · 09/07/2023 19:23

I had a vitamin d deficiency which caused horrible chin spots. Might be worth getting this checked?

Happygerbil · 09/07/2023 19:28

Google peri oral dermatitis

TumbleweedRolling · 09/07/2023 19:28

Jesus!
Seriously, could it be that bad?

This is really weird because me and a couple of people I know are breaking out on our chins at the min (and we’re all far too old to be getting bloody spots!) is there something going on? 😅

i find drinking lots of water helps calm it

noapologies · 09/07/2023 19:33

Spots on your forehead are common in your youth.

Just as everything else goes south, blind pimples on your chin are more common as you head towards middle age (sorry). You need to buy some targeted spot gel to calm the angry spots and bring any white gunk to the surface.

It’s usually just a part of normal ageing. Where you are in your menstrual cycle can also influence it.

Have you started kissing/dating someone with a beard?

Because the skin on my chin was bloody awful when I dated a guy with a beard. I never had spots on my chin before that, nor after.

TumbleweedRolling · 09/07/2023 19:50

No 😀 definitely not kissing men or been scracthed by their beards.

The only thing I can think of is that I tried a new sun screen, could that have clocked my pores?
But wouldn’t that just lead to regular pimples?

Deep chin and jawline spots are hormonal. I get these before my period, they are awful! Hydrocolloid plasters are good for drying them out once you get them open.

YES.

When I wear any body spray or body butter type of products on my chest I come up with so many spots.

I don't put sun cream on my face, it breaks out.
I rely on the SPF in my foundation and shade.

Unsure754 · 09/07/2023 20:03

Deep spots around mouth and jawline are hormonal.

Unsure754 · 09/07/2023 20:03

As in hormonal cause, how old are you?

YoSof · 09/07/2023 20:05

Does it look like cystic acne? Agree with other posters that spots around chin/jawline are usually hormonal.

Unsure754 · 09/07/2023 20:05

Just seen mid thirties!
Same age my hormonal imbalance started to make itself known. Would suggest my getting hormone levels checked.
If you are Uk I imagine you will have to pay, NHS not much help in this area.

MamaCapybara · 09/07/2023 20:11

I had these throughout my early-mid thirties. Have just managed to get on rid of them this year - acnicide gel was the answer for me to get on top of it initially, and have moved away from using a micellar cleanser as I don't think that was helping.

TumbleweedRolling · 09/07/2023 20:39

I googled cystic acne, they kind of do look like that, but without anything to pop, I looked more pictures, mine look more like something called papules.

Thank you for all the suggestions and the poducts that has been mentioned.
I will go shopping tomorrow.
