To go to Leeds Festival 20 weeks pregnant?

For my husbands 30th we had planned to go to Leeds festival for the day (not camping, just a one day visit!) with a group of our friends. Since buying the tickets I have found out that I’m pregnant and will be about 20weeks by the time we go.

AIBU to still go? I would feel so guilty because it’s part of my husbands birthday gift and I know he would be so upset if I didn’t come along, but not sure if I’m being very naive by going?

I'd still go, just make sure you're staying hydrated and don't get into the thick of the crowds in front of the stage so you're not accidentally bumped into.

If no camping I’d definitely go at 20 weeks!

You're pregnant, not ill, of course you can go unless there is a genuine medical reason not to go. You'll be unlikely to be able to go next year!

Jonnycakes · 09/07/2023 14:27

Ds went last year and it’s absolute carnage. However I’d guess you’re not going to be hanging with the 18 year olds who’ve been drinking for 3 days straight! I’d go but stay away from the crowds, you’ll be fine.

Totalwasteofpaper · 09/07/2023 15:08

I'd hate that pregnant or not.

Hang at the back and look after people's stuff/be the meeting point and i am sure itll be okay

I went to a festival pregnant before ,It's okay you just need to make sure you're eating and drinking but it's hard on your ligaments and feet all the standing and walking so just make sure to sit down on the grass a lot if you can oh and take paracetamol because the lights, noise and lack of proper sleep (especially of you're camping) will likely give you a headache but in my experience it won't ruin the weekend and also if younare camping I'd camp in the further away camps and near a toilet bc the closer you get to the main arena area the least sleep you'll get as they have parties all night but the brown area is so chill it's a lot of decent people and older people who like to share there snacks and air bed pump lol

DH and I went for the day a couple of years ago. If you’re driving be aware that it can be such a trek depending on where you get parked. It took us almost an hour to walk back to the car at the end of the day we may have got slightly lost a couple of times.
Make sure you wear comfy shoes and keep hydrated, we were both knackered the next day.
Also stay waaaaay at the back. We were in the thick of the crowd for a couple of acts and like a pp said it can be absolute carnage, you get pushed and shoved all over.

Peony654 · 25/07/2023 14:57

If you feel fine at the time, definitely go. Just stay out of crowds and drink plenty of water.

YukoandHiro · 25/07/2023 14:58

Taking a camping seat so you can find a perching spot

Lauryn95 · 25/07/2023 14:59

Just seen you're not camping how TF did I not see the second half of your post idk ,you'll deffo be fine then haha

margegunderson · 25/07/2023 14:59

Put it another way - why shouldn't you go?

Gymmum82 · 25/07/2023 15:02

I went a few years back at about the same gestation. Maybe closer to 25 weeks. I had an obvious bump anyway. We went for the whole weekend camping. Had a great time. Was even front row in one of the smaller tents for a band I loved.
Id go. You’re only going for the day. You’ll be fine and enjoy it and it’ll be the last time you can go for a while

Wheresmyrobe · 25/07/2023 15:18

Not a chance in hell. But that would be my answer pregnant or not so completely unhelpful 😅

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 25/07/2023 15:21

I absolutely would.

TheLizardQueen · 25/07/2023 15:27

I went to a festival when I was 7 months pregnant and huge. It was fine. Just no mosh pits at the front haha

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/07/2023 15:30

20 weeks was probably the only time I would have considered it. Not puking, and not giant yet. A very brief window in my pregnancy.

You need a shooting stick though, to lean on.

eurochick · 25/07/2023 15:51

20 weeks is usually the good bit! I went to one of The Hyde Park gigs (which have a festival vibe) at 32 weeks and had a great time. Just stay out of the mosh pit.

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/07/2023 15:52

I'd go to a festival, I wouldn't go to Leeds (or Reading).

GettingJigglypuffWithIt · 25/07/2023 16:15

20 weeks pregnant is a doddle still, you probably won't even be that big at that point still. I was on my feet all day at work until 38 weeks pregnant. As long as it's not 30 degree heat you'll be fine. There's plenty of spots during the day to sit down on the grass and if you're staying for the main acts then just stand at the back.

GettingJigglypuffWithIt · 25/07/2023 16:17

The thing that would only put me off is I went to Reading festival a few years ago (my favourite band was headlining) and was probably the oldest person there (in my 30's). They are basically festivals for teenagers to take drugs and get drunk away from their parents.

AcrobaticCardigan · 25/07/2023 16:19

I know I wouldn’t have enjoyed it while pregnant. You have to think about your own comfort & safety.

nadine90 · 25/07/2023 16:22

Bring a camping chair and stay way back from the mosh pits and you'll be fine x
