Robox - robucks rip off - AIBU to think kids get ripped off with their robux regularly?

Against my better judgement, DS put a lot of birthday money into her roblox account. I want her to make some decisions herself so I ultimately let her do it. She was so excited. Twenty minutes later, she went to spend the money and 1900 robux were gone.

It’s my perception that this happens regularly. Robux disappear and children - who have been careful with password hygiene - are distraught and pretty sure they have not spent it. Is this a common experience for other parents?

Are you sure she's converted them to robux. We've loaded cards in before and then she's forgot to transfer them into her account.
Takes a few mins to sort. :)

Or she's spent them on some random things. If you genuinely believe they are gone email customer services. They are generally quick to respond and can be very clear where the points have gone. :)

Yes she definitely converted them.

Customer services have told me to go and jump.

She has been crying.

They have not been remotely clear about where the points have gone. The whole thing is really disappointing. DS wants to buy robucks now but I will be pointing out she has been ripped off and there is no proper log.

You're saying "DS" but also "her", but your post reads like it's about a small child. Is it actually about your sister?

Mine have had robux from time to time and never experienced this…
one has spent them very quickly but they’ve never just disappeared without them being spent

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 07/07/2023 19:08

That's a huge shame. I've had cause to email a couple of times and they helped a lot.

did they definitely make it into her log on account? When you add the codes in it asks you to convert them, but sometimes gets stuck in there. And you have to press again to get them onto you account.

In answer to your question. My dd can get through robux like water. It's easy to do. A couple of games that require them and a few outfits and you're done if you wanted to. But as yet I've not had any points go missing. And she has probably had hundreds of pounds worth over the years.

ds is a different child who now wants to buy them!!

I can see they have been part of the account. So they have just disappeared without much information.

i Think more likely is she has spent them without realising if it’s the first time she has had them.

ds gets Robux occasionally and never had any issue with them. Not what I would pick for him to spend his money on but he is happy!

HankMarvin2023 · 07/07/2023 19:18

She has had them before and been playing for years.

Are you sure she hasn’t spent them? I recently gave DD’s friend a £20 robux voucher for his birthday. It was spent and gone within 15 mins 🙈
