Long white weird facial hairs

AIBU to think that 3 inch long white hairs can grow out of your face in a matter of hours.
Just pulled one out of my chin, I know for a fact it wasn't there this morning. I know it wasn't there!!!
It was really thin and wispy and long

Its happened before, please tell me I'm not the only freak in the world.

Chatting to another mum I didn’t know terribly well outside nursery. I saw what I thought was a length of cotton thread on her cheek, below her eye.
I said “Oooh, you’ve got something on your face”
She tried to it away flick away unsuccessfully and then said “Can you just get it for me, I can see it out of the corner of my eye now”
I tried, but it was still attached. It was a long white hair. We both screeched and laughed. And avoided each other for the remainder of primary school.

I have had one thick wiry white hair in the space between my eyebrows since I was a child. I pluck it out and it reappears at lightning speed. My mum has one in exactly the same place, as does DS1. Like the Mallen streak ... only a single hair ... on my face😆😆 I'm in my fifties now and I have cultivated a couple of impressively long white hairs on my neck.

Yes but how therapeutic is it when you settle down with tweezers and a magnifying mirror ?

PerfectYear321 · 07/07/2023 19:21

JESUS

Jeannie88 · 07/07/2023 19:21

Yep! One minute you've plucked and hair free then next a 30 mil long grey curly wire springs from your face/neck! What's that all about? Only by looking in car mirror do I notice it so when parked up there I am with my tweezers, always in bag, getting that mofo out! X

I've found my tribe. Good insulation in the winter!

I think they're called Hag Hairs just to cheer you up even more!

I call them goat hairs!

saltinesandcoffeecups · 07/07/2023 19:47

Ok if it’s any consolation this past weekend I was out with my husband and went to pull a piece of thin string from is shirt (I thought was a cat hair) it was apparently attached as I found out when he yowled. That and I have to tell him his eyebrows need trimmed when I swear the fuckers reach over and tap me on the shoulder. (I always tell him he’ll know when it’s over between us because I’ll quit telling him).

It’s all good he’s been instructed to notify me of goat hairs on my chin.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/07/2023 19:49

I've had one that's grown out of my eyebrow a couple of times. But that's it - twice in maybe 10 years. Just odd!!

I feel your pain OP. I've pulled one out before that wasn't even hairlike. More like a stick! 😳

Sorry but that's made me LOL!

I have one on my neck that is like a grizzly bear fur.

I have to check my face in good lighting with a magnifying mirror a pair of reading glasses and a set of tweezers at least every other day for hair otherwise I look like a fucking rabbi, I know their favourite spots to hide by now.

I remember once sitting in a cafe with a friend and her saying “keep still , you’ve got something on you” she reached over to pluck a hair off me and I nearly bounced my head off the fucking table, it was growing out of my neck and was SEVERAL inches long .

Yep, hairs appear overnight here too. The window on the half landing has perfect light for checking them mid afternoon so I keep a little mirror hidden behind a plant pot and do a very regular check. Hair free one day, two inches long the next, it is so odd.

OneFlipflopleft · 07/07/2023 20:22

I have one on my upper arm, is indeed suddenly VERY long. Thinner than head hair.
But.. does anyone recognize the sudden existence of very very long hairs on the back of your upper legs? They are dark, and I'm blonde; everywhere.... and they are longgggg and placed an inch apart or so.
Anyone?
I am alone in this I think....

Merryoldgoat · 07/07/2023 20:27

I have a delightful variety of chin hairs:

sticks
ones like eyebrows
weird white fluffy/fine ones

They can appear overnight.

My youngest strokes my stubble to soothe himself. I feel so special.

🤣🤣🤣

Yep, I have one that grows on my cheek - never had someone else try to yank it out though (not yet anyway 🤣)

Midnightpumpkin · 07/07/2023 20:43

Yes totally normal here unfortunately. I cant seem to spot a pattern with mine I'll be hair free for weeks then one long
white one will pop up on my chin.

My DH however has this AMAZING one that grows on the back of his neck - it's thicker than head hair cylinder like in its shape and it feels plastic-y. Very bizarre and fascinating all at the same time esp as he's blonde.

Circa 1983 and I still cringe about it.

Girl sat next to me in a t shirt and her arm was resting on the desk.

I have arachnophobia and there was a fairly large spider on her arm and I instinctively picked up a text book and flicked it off her arm away from the pair of us.

She screamed and turned to me wondering what on earth I was doing and it was still on her arm and I stood up and started screaming, "It's on your arm! It's on your arm!"

She was looking at her arm as if nothing was there and was extremely puzzled!

I then thought in my state of fear that it was a dead spider and was somehow stuck on her arm.

My good friend who was also in the class, knew about my extreme phobia and came over to help and announced, "It's a mole!"

It was a large raised black mole with long dark hairs growing out of it.

It was horrendous as a few of the boys in the class were sniggering and the poor girl glared at me every time our eyes met.

Why the hell she didn't trim those bloody hairs, I'll never know as it would often catch my eye and make me jump.
