To let the school know I want the job?

The reception manager at our school has left 'by mutual agreement'. We've just been informed by email.

I really want the job. How would I go about emailing the head asking if there is now a position etc?

Would it be insensitive to email straight away?

Go for it. Providing you have the skills and qualifications required. You have nothing to lose.

I'm assuming you have the relevant qualifications for the role?

Maybe have an informal chat with the head and offer to send in your CV, or meet in person is possible.

Do it.

Presumably the school will have to go through a formal recruitment process though? They won't just give the job to someone who emails and says they are interested.

Not to mention, the person might not be replaced anyway, as the school try to save money. DC's school have cut non teaching staff to the bone.

But if they know the OP is interested they could let her know how to apply. If the previous employee's departure was sudden they might want someone they know to fill in temporarily.

Yes I do, probably over qualified but I want something that works around the children now.

It's an independent school so more chance they'll be replacing the role
