To not want to keep the money and the goods?

Sorry posted here as not sure where to go from here with this situation.

Ordered an item off vinted, being shipped by evri. I have heard bad things about them but personally had no issues. The item was out for delivery last week but never arrived and the tracking was stuck on 'out for delivery' for over a week.

All of a sudden over the weekend, the tracking updated to show it was delivered on the same day a week prior that it had said it was originally out for delivery on. There was no proof of delivery and I certainly didn't receive it. I also found it strange that the tracking would update a week later to advise of a delivery when usually it happened soon after a delivery, and the fact that there was no delivery photo.

I raised it with vinted and evri. I had to complete a form of non-receipt for vinted. All done and the transaction was cancelled, it was advised that both I and the seller would be compensated. While I was disappointed not to receive the item, it was only cheap - £6 so not a huge issue.

However the issue is, a few hours after the transaction was cancelled, the item has turned up, delivered by evri who then sent me an update to say delivered and took the photo as proof of postage. Excellent but I have gone onto vinted to update that it has now arrived but it's not letting me do this as it says the issue is resolved and the refund has been issued. I don't want to keep the item and the money so can anyone advise how I go about cancelling the refund?

Thanks

Why does it matter? If they said the seller would be compensated then neither of you are missing out. If there’s no obvious way to sort it out then I’d just leave it

BoogiemanSam · 04/07/2023 15:53

Personally I would just leave it. The seller will have been compensated the £6 anyway so they’re not out of pocket. It’ll be between Evri and Vinted now to debate the costs.

whatdoido23 · 04/07/2023 15:54

I suppose both my guilty conscience and a concern of repercussion further down the line when vinted investigate with evri. I'll worry a lot though granted I am of an anxious disposition.

Sell the item on Vinted or give it to a local charity shop. You both got your money back so what's the problem?!

Loafbeginsat60 · 04/07/2023 16:19

Evri are awful for that. Don't deliver and when you complain the item miraculously appears...

It's not your fault so just donate the money to charity

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/07/2023 16:30

You could always message the seller and do a pay pal transfer 'offline' as it were, for the £6?

The seller will have been paid by Vinted already.

Why? The seller has their £6 for the item.

Email vinted and tell them.

But the OP has had a refund and also has the item, so I am suggesting a solution that allows her to pay if she feels 'guilty'
As it were.

OdeToBarney · 04/07/2023 17:03

Message the seller and offer to split the difference with them?

Vinted will have reimbursed the seller already though - she won't be out of pocket.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/07/2023 17:12

Ok then
Look at it this way - OP has £6 refund and ALSO has £6 worth of goods.

The Vinted seller has a £6 refund but no goods.

So whilst she is not out of pocket, OP could e.g sell the item for £6 so she would be ahead.

OP is looking for a way to rectify what she sees as an injustice.

Is that clearer?

whatdoido23 · 04/07/2023 17:18

Thank you for all the replies. I've messaged vinted so will wait to see what they say. If no response or they say to keep the money then I will donate it to charity. I know it's only a small amount but I feel so guilty having a refund and the product.

Well, that’s 2 minutes I’ll never get back. This isn’t. Big deal, you did nothing wrong. Give £6 to charity.

WestOfWestminster · 04/07/2023 17:27

This happens a lot with Evri, it shows as delivered but it doesn't actually get delivered till a day or so later.

It might be different per area but thats what happens round our way.

TBF you didn't have to comment at all. Then you could have saved yourself a precious minute.

I'd have done the same OP. I wouldn't be surprised if they tell you to keep the money and the item.
