To feel aggrieved by this?! (Lighthearted...sort of)

I have taken to calling DM/DF/sibling once a week.

This has started because I felt with exception to DF, who used to call me about once every three months, that it was only me that ever made contact.

I called DM last week. She basically talked about herself for 15 minutes and then finished off by saying - as I hadn't heard from you I thought something must have been wrong with you or DC.

I was surprised that given she thought "something might be wrong" she didn't bother to call and check we were okay.

I haven't heard from her since! When I make my weekly call tomorrow we'll have the same conversation again.

AIBI to think communication and maintaining relationships is not a one way street?!

I speak to my parents 3 times a week. My parents hardly call me, but I know that the reason they don't is because I work, have a young family and am busy. They don't want to intrude or interrupt me. I've told them it's ok, but they're doing what they think is considerate. Knowing that, makes me feel cared about.
Any chance your mum might be doing similar?

My mother never calls me, then tells me she thought something was wrong with me cos she hadn’t heard from me. 🙈
