To be embarrassed of my house in front of babysitter

I mean, she’s only young 19/20, but my house is a mess at the moment, needs painting, just generally a bit scruffy and I feel so ashamed to have her here.
Dd finishes school soon and I’ll need her for a few hours a few days per week. I just haven’t had the time or money to sort it recently
Does anyone else feel like this?

Is it clean? My home is generally clean and tidy. It is also nicely decorated, but if it wasn't, all I'd do is clean and dust before someone came round.

As long as it was clean and things were put away I wouldn't feel embarrassed.

She's 19/20 trust me all she is thinking about is the money.

Clean toilet is a must and your good to go.

Plus she probably leaves all her clothes all over her bedroom floor or has done in the past so k really wouldn't worry

It's definitely normal to feel like this... even big companies are making money off the feeling of 'house-barrassment'.

As the PPs have said, as long as it's generally tidy, I wouldn't worry.

I wouldn’t be so sure of this! People think of teenagers as so much younger I was only that age several years ago and I would have noticed a messy house and had the same opinion as any other adult

Her age is irrelevant. I’m sure she won’t judge you though, even if she does you don’t have to care!

Don't worry about it. She probably has a messy bedroom I definitely did when I was 19
