Scared of the dark as an adult - anyone else?

I'm genuinely interested. And this isn't a joke

If you were to get a glass of water in the middle of the night for example, would you be able to just walk in darkness? (Obviously provided u can just about see where you're going lol) I personally have to turn on every light that comes my way.

I think what made my problem worse was doing night feeds when DS was newborn. (He's 9months now & sleeps through the night luckily) but being up as a single mum at like 2/3am was a bit... eery.

I definitely think some horror films that i watched when I was younger have stayed with me.

If I hear a noise from downstairs in the night I freak. In the day time i wouldn't even think twice about it.

And what reminded me to make this post is it's dark now at 22:45 and you guessed it... I'm freaked out!

I’m a bit half and half. No problem wandering outside at night in the dark. Inside is more of a problem. If DH is home I don’t have any issues wandering around in the dark, will even go downstairs to kitchen without lights on. If it’s just me and the kids I still have to sleep with all the lights off but I always pray I don’t have to go to the loo or fetch anything. Realising I’ve left a charger or something downstairs is the worst 😂

Also I hate mirrors at night and won’t look in them regardless of if DH is home or not!

I try and channel my inner Granny Weatherwax - there is nothing in the dark that is more scary than I am.

Headology!

I was scared of the dark until I hit my twenties, and brought my pet bunny in to be a house rabbit after his brother died. He was so incredibly fierce he would have destroyed ghosts/intruders/monsters of any description before they got a look in! He cured me completely.

I'm not scared of the dark. I wonder down stairs in the dark if I need some water during the night, which isn't the safest I suppose. I'm too lazy to switch the light on. Now mirrors on the other hand.....
