Mean girl in child’s class but nobody seems to believe it!

Girl in 6 year old DD’s class. Very unkind to others but because her mum is very prim and proper and nobody seems to be able to believe such a pillar of community’s child could be so unkind, and as such all her mean behaviour seems to get ignored. Examples being this girl scratching another girls arm drawing blood, constantly putting other girls down “ha ha you came last!” etc, very controlling in friendships ie not allowing “her” friend to play with other girls …..goes on and on. Lots of “I’m telling the teacher!!!!” if anyone disagrees with her and then turning on the tears, cue the teacher rushing to comfort her and scolding the other child. School are clueless. The mother if anything enables and encourages her by refusing to believe she is anything other than perfectly behaved and is actually quite snooty towards others, making it quite clear that she will only allow her daughter to mix with a certain class of child (for reference they are not wealthy so not sure where this snobbery has come from!)
It’s winding me up and I need to vent!

Twas ever thus.

We had a Y6, lets call her Mavis. In my class. The teachers called a meeting & we were all lectured about the veritable saint that was Mavis. Turns out someone had, finally, called out her mean girl behaviour, impossible! Mavis was a v beautiful child which meant the chosen one & golden. Her mother wielded a lot of power in the school.

As an adult I overheard a conversation in the car park between a mother & daughter: ‘I am afraid you can’t be friends with X, as she’s not Mummy’s sort of person’.
