To ask where to buy kids shoes in Copenhagen? Help!

Travellingshoeshopper · 28/06/2023 22:33

I know I am being unreasonable to ask this but it is the busy topic…

Anyone know where I can buy a 5yo boy shoes in Copenhagen city centre tomorrow morning?
As close to the central train station as possible?
We are transiting through and have maybe a 2 hour window if we juggle trains to sort DC out with some new shoes as his have disintegrated in the last 24 hours - I blame the play area surfaces, not my neglecting to notice the soles were coming away.

Google yields many results but none as informative as someone who really knows Copenhagen.

Thanks in advance you wonderful lot… I hope!

There’s a Føtex supermarket on Vesterbrogade (which is not far at all)

you won’t get anything fancy but you’ll get something to see you through.

Mærkbare is behind Vesterbrogade

If you have time to get to Stroget (main shopping area) there’s Ecco, Magasin du nord, Footlocker

You could get the metro to the main shopping area, as @IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece says there’s loads of shoe shop options.

You want M3 or M4 (trains every couple of mins), go to Gammel Strand (9 mins) and the shops are a couple of minutes from the station.

Its about a 20min walk from the main station to the main shopping centre.

@IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece You’re an absolute hero; this is exactly what I needed to read.
I see I can walk to footlocker in about 15 minutes from the train station; possibly via a sketchers store which is on Stroget also.
He is currently in Sketchers so I am hoping the problem is easily solved, though the store gets mixed reviews as to if they carry children’s
shoes or not, which is what led me to ask on here for real world experience.
Thank you again.

@cherryassam Oh thank you so
much for that, the metro will make things even easier! I had forgotten about the metro and only googled
walking directions as thought the bus would be convoluted.

Yes definitely jump on the metro, it’s super quick! If you have a bunch of wheely cases then if you’re able to have someone in your party stay at the station and you just go with DS then that’s easier if you’re in a rush as there’s loads of cobbles and wheely cases are a barstard 😂 good luck!

@IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece

I am going to hedge all bets and go straight to Footlocker. So the metro will be a godsend.

DH can stay with the other DC at the station, I’ve told him the 7/11 used to do good hotdogs, as did the stand opposite the Tivoli so they will be occupied by that!

We are transiting through tomorrow but I have been panic- reminiscing about previous, pre children trips, and think we will book a Copenhagen centric long weekend in the near future.

@Travellingshoeshopper happy to help!

If you want to streamline things even further, you can buy tickets on your mobile using the DOT app. Means you can head straight down to the metro using the passenger subway/tunnel without having to go up into the station hall necessarily. You have to buy a single ticket each way I think and with each adult ticket you can have 2 under 12s with you for free.

cherryassam · 28/06/2023 23:34

I’m getting all moony about Copenhagen myself now! It’s such an amazing city. Hope it all goes well tomorrow 🤞🏻

Travellingshoeshopper · 28/06/2023 23:48

@cherryassam that’s really
useful to know, thank you!
The less distance DS has to travel on foot, the better!

Definitely do a revisit to Copenhagen 😁 I live there and it’s utterly beautiful! (Permission to be grumpier and retract that in February when we’re on month 72 of winter and dark!)

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 29/06/2023 12:23

Hope you’ve got it sorted!

Travellingshoeshopper · 29/06/2023 16:29

@IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece Thank you for all your help; we were in and out in exactly 43 minutes with a pair of Nikes that I’d never buy him at home but they had in his size and he liked so alas, my principles be damned on this occasion!
Might even get him tying the laces independently one day.

I am now looking at a September city break; I was very tempted to skip down to Nyhavn to quickly see the coloured buildings today!
