to think Kellogg's Variety Packs are rubbish now?

I recently bought a Kellogg's variety pack (ordered online, so I didn't properly see it until it arrived).

It had been about 20 years since I last had one... I remember there being all sorts of great (when you're a kid) cereals in there - Coco Pops, Rice Krispies, Frosties, Sugar Puffs, Ricicles (although I they were later discontinued), plus I'm sure at least one or two others that I can't remember. Anyway, I'm pretty sure there were at least 7, if not 8 different cereals in each pack.

This one has: Coco pops x 3, Cornflakes x1, Rice Krispies x 2 and wholegrain Rice Krispies x 2.

So either 3 or 4 varieties, depending on whether you class the wholegrain and normal Rice Krispies as being the same. What a load of rubbish! Literally what is even the point of them anymore?! If all you want is coco pops and rice krispies, wouldn't it now just be easier to buy a big box of each of them? Why buy a variety pack at all? There is no longer any "variety" in it. I am genuinely baffled by this as a commercial decision. Is it to do with sugar content or something?

they discontinued Ricicles?? why they were lovely

Raindancer411 · 28/06/2023 11:56

Yes I remember them like that and LOVED ricicles

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/06/2023 11:57

Tbf, they’ve always been rubbish.

veryfluffyfluff · 28/06/2023 11:57

I agree. No one wants cornflakes either.

BeCruelToBeKind · 28/06/2023 11:58

We generally have Frosties, coco pops, cornflakes, Rice Krispies and multigrain shapes in our variety pack, we get one pretty much every week. I’d say you scored the jackpot with 3 coco pops.

I know! I had a Saturday job in a supermarket around the time they were discontinued and we had loads of people coming in asking for them. Apparently the sugar content was too high.

Mine will only eat the cornflakes as cornflake cakes.

BiscuitsandPuffin · 28/06/2023 12:08

Wow I was going to say variety packs have never been great but after reading what's now in them, that sounds really pointless. I wonder if they're just aiming them at hotels nowadays? They often have those tiny boxes now instead of big cereal hoppers (moving away from zero waste, bizarrely).

As an aside, I don't think they ever had Sugar Puffs in though as they're not Kellogs, they're an indie company like Weetabix afaik.

MichelleScarn · 28/06/2023 12:10

Bring back ricicles!!

CountryStore · 28/06/2023 12:14

They used to have Start in them as well I think 🤔

CountryStore · 28/06/2023 12:15

And maybe Special K?

RoomOfRequirement · 28/06/2023 12:17

Maybe I just like cereal more than normal people but I never get those because the boxes are tiny. I'd like 3 per breakfast please.

HorseyMel · 28/06/2023 12:21

I hope that those buying tiny multipacks of Kelloggs cereal are not pleading poverty on the many threads on that topic.

massivesalads · 28/06/2023 12:22

You used to get golden nuggets in them! That was a top tier cereal.

KettleOn919 · 28/06/2023 12:23

Puffa Puffa Rice! Remember that one?

mainsfed · 28/06/2023 12:25

I never understood why people pay the premium for the Kellogg’s variety packs.

£3 for the variety pack which is 200g, compared to £3.30 for a 480g box of Coco Pops.

Each to their own, I get that.

CallieQ · 28/06/2023 12:27

Ricicles were my fave! Never liked Coco pops

CallieQ · 28/06/2023 12:27

Sugar Puffs?!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/06/2023 12:30

‘Ricicles are nicicles as icicles’ was the advert tag line.

Fivefootoffun · 28/06/2023 12:30

They’ve only just recently taken out the Frosties apparently. Poor show for sure!

born2runaway · 28/06/2023 12:30

They're really just for grandparents and BnBs

They can get in the (80s) bin

born2runaway · 28/06/2023 12:31

Sugar puffs arent kellogs ?

born2runaway · 28/06/2023 12:32

Incidentally, sugar puffs were rebranded as Honey Puffs

Now they're healthier!
