What looks like chicken pox but isn’t?

Posting shamelessly for traffic. Both kids diagnosed (by sending photos to doc) which chicken pox two weeks ago. They never filled with liquid or crusted over, just faded/dried out. By yesterday morning all basically gone so sent them back to childcare after two weeks of hell juggling work and both of them at home. Today they’ve woken up and one has a few spots and the other is covered and itching. Surely it’s not chicken pox then? What is it?? Having a small weep at another week of trying to be two people at once. Pics from this morning attached.

It sounds like the first diagnosis was probably incorrect and they didn't have chickenpox. There are loads of types of rashes, it's impossible to tell from a photo like this tbh (but it doesn't look like chickenpox at all at the moment). If they are not unwell is there a reason not to send them to childcare?

Our nursery will accept children in most cases following the NHS guidelines, as long as they feel well / don't have a fever.

Ours got misdiagnosed with chicken pox last year and when one ended up in hospital, it turned out to be a viral rash. The spots were smaller and redder than yours look, though.
