To be worried something is going on with my banks?

I'm actually genuinely starting to get a bit worried.

Last Monday I requested (via online banking) some money be moved out of my Plum savings account in to my "primary pocket" account. The money has left my savings account and says "should arrive by 22nd June" but it's still not arrived. This is an attached account, so I can't have typed in the info incorrectly etc, and I've moved this money successfully before this way.

I wouldn't be overly worried, however, I also withdrew some money from my NatWest stocks and shares ISA to my main NatWest account, again, an attached account so couldn't have typed in details incorrectly. It should have taken up to 5 working days. It's now 7 working days and still no sign of it.

AIBU to start getting worried?

FWIW we aren't talking large sums, only a few hundred.

Phone them and ask?

pd339 · 28/06/2023 07:52

some people certainly do like to worry!

It does sound like a glitch your end if it's happened to more than one account.
Ring both.

I'd be worried too! it's now 28th June

TheFlis12345 · 28/06/2023 07:55

What did they say when you called them and asked where the money is? We can’t know more than the banks involved!

I’ll never understand why people take the mental energy required to worry when they could simply phone them bank up and ask what’s going on. That was my point.

I have rung NatWest, they said they can see the request and it's in process. No explanation for the delay.

Plum I've emailed as they're not a bank you phone. They've not replied yet.

I've just revisited plums help center and seen this message:

But no explanation of where the money has gone, seeing as it's in neither account. I'll have to wait for them to get back to me.

You worry about you want to worry about, and allow OP to do the same! It's none of your concern.

It is when posted on a public chat forum! Wake up on the wrong side of bed?

No more than you did, sweetheart.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 28/06/2023 09:22

I'd be worried too. Whenever I've transferred money from one account to another it's been instant so if be freaked out if it just seemed to disappear 😬

BankBanque · 02/07/2023 22:25

Just thought I'd update:

NatWest got back to me, apologised and the money was in my account the following day.

Plum are "looking in to it" but have no idea what has happened or where my money is. It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow that I requested the money. I think I'm going close my account. I'm so annoyed with them. But I love how it sets money aside for you without you noticing. No good if it loses that money though!
