The last few periods I have noticed a distinct sweet smell. Honestly it's like sugar that's come out of the oven! Which is startlingly weird, but whatever, not unpleasant. It's not a nasty smell at all.
Google doesn't really tell me anything except maybe bacteria in the vag which sounds bad (!) or it's to do with hormones from the next cycle, which to me sounds like a jumbling up of the delineations about where the phases of the cycle should be? Does that mean I'm possibly now in peri?
I'm 38 and my gynaecologist was very dismissive of my questions around perimenopause as I still have regular periods. But they are getting closer together, and I have autoimmune conditions that can speed up menopausal happenings.
Has anyone else noticed a sweet period smell as they went into peri?
