to think I've just heard the worst excuse for bad parking?

Driver claimed they didn't know they weren't allowed to park on the road outside the local shop because they'd seen other people parking there before and so thought it was OK.

They where on zig zags on a main road, right next to a zebra crossing and within ten meters of a junction.

Is that not just common sense?!

Appalling excuse OP! I think I'd have told him to read his bloody Highway Code again, and asked him ;if he saw several people jump off a cliff, whether he'd just join them, or would he actually think about it first?' What a dick!!

This was said to the shop assistant, I only overheard so didn't say anything but was certainly thinking it! Shop assistant said to me after they'd gone that they see people shoplifting, doesn't mean its OK to do! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Well when 99% of threads have the first reply being "dump him", at least its something different.

Oh dear. Another tragic case of someone who clicked on a thread, read it and posted, despite not being interested in the subject-matter.

Odd how these people always feel compelled to share with others, just how bored they are.

Shinier · 22/06/2023 20:10

I mean I’d leave myself if I ever thought overhearing someone saying they thought it was okay to park somewhere it wasn’t was noteworthy enough to want to tell the internet!

Who decides what's noteworthy? Do tell.

Shinier · 22/06/2023 20:12

@WaterIris what’s wrong with being bored? It’s not a shameful emotion!

I didn't say it was. Being rude however, is nothing to feel proud of.

Shinier · 22/06/2023 20:13

sure. I’ll explain. I didn’t say someone else decides if something is noteworthy. I said if I ever felt something so dull was noteworthy I’d be pretty disappointed. Hope that helps.

Hoppinggreen · 22/06/2023 20:13

Shinier · 22/06/2023 20:14

@WaterIris why are you trying to fight with me? You’ve come on here and called me tragic and bored and rude for some reason.

How fortunate that we're all different then. Slightly odd that you clearly do feel that being bored by the OP's post is noteworthy enough to share.

Anyway...

OP, I never fail to be bemused, irritated and downright amazed by the shit excuses people come up with, when attempting to justify why they should be exempt from rules that apply to everyone else.

WaterIris · 22/06/2023 20:17

I'm not trying to fight with you. You made a comment I felt was rude - I responded to it, and to your later posts. That's how a discussion forum works, no?

Being an arsehole is much worse than being dull.

Look at you madly refreshing the ‘boring’ thread, posting and re-posting! You love it!!

LlynTegid · 22/06/2023 20:28

Pity you did not photograph the vehicle and report to the police. Alleging medical unfitness to drive.

Or advise the Conservative Party of a suitable candidate for one of the by-elections!!

donquixotedelamancha · 22/06/2023 20:29

As I write one person has voted that OP IBU. I wonder who that could be?

LMAO.

Parking like a dick is bad but a bit harsh to suggest it's the moral equivalent of being a Tory MP.

WaterIris · 22/06/2023 20:35

I passed someone yesterday who had parked their car on a mini-roundabout. I'm not joking - literally on the white mounded circle bit!! Luckily it's quite a roomy one so people could still get by.

It's a common occurance and vehicles are regularly reported for it. Local council certainly don't seem concerned about the road safety issue. I'm not sure what could be done though except for a traffic warden to come round, but they wouldn't make enough from it.

I get drivers make mistakes, I know I have before today but you own up to it and learn.

The driver seemed genuinely shocked that it was illegal.
