Sort of lighthearted - is this a shopping addiction?

I appear to have a slight addiction to buying pyjamas. I think I currently have 6 pairs of winter ones, 10 pairs of shortie Summer pyjamas with another pair on order and 3 dressing gowns.

I just like them so much, there's not much nicer than having a bath or shower and putting on a lovely fresh pair.

The trouble is they are so cheap to buy that every time I go to the supermarket they have new styles.

Does that sound very excessive? I do wear them all. Is anyone else like this with something.

If this is your worst vice and you're not getting into debt doing it, crack on!

CeciliaMars · 22/06/2023 16:16

By the way, Matalan have some really nice ones at the moment!!

How much drawer space do you have? I have 2 pairs of summer, 3 winter, 1 in-between, and I can barely shut my drawer

I have a similar problem with soft jumpers. Perhaps we need to start a support group.

Littleme2023 · 22/06/2023 16:30

I have at least triple that amount and no intention of ever stopping 😂 but I now only buy if I replace that tattier ones. It’s hard though. I’m emotionally attached to some of them 🤭

PaperNests · 22/06/2023 16:36

In a more serious tone, I think the things for you to reflect on are can you afford it? Does effect your emotions in a bad way, eg, euphoria followed by guilt and depression later on creating a cycle? Are you prone to serious addictions? Or is it more that you're seeing a lot of nice ones in the shops lately, but perhaps they'll be fewer you like when the fashion changes and your buying habit will wane?

CeciliaMars · 22/06/2023 16:51

Don't even look at Matalan's summer dresses...(I don't work for them by the way, just recently discovered how nice some of their stuff is!)

I'm the same with loungewear. I have a few types of ribbed soft flared leggings in every colour they sold. Plus so many bralettes and cardigans and robes to wear on comfy days. What's bad is I know my taste will change soon and I'll be buying more of another type... It's an addiction but it's alright with me!

Toomanysurely · 22/06/2023 18:45

No, I mean I don't seriously think I've got a problem. I only buy cheap ones. I can't fit them all in the drawer though.

You’re fine OP, if you can afford them and it makes you happy then it’s harming no one. I probably have 4 x that amount, I was thinking yesterday I need to prune down my collection a bit. I collect clothes, I know I do - I have 52 pairs of jeans for example - but it’s a hobby. Enjoy being comfy!
