To think if you agree to meet in a place you shouldn't change the plan last minute?

To explain, twice lately I've planned to meet a friend and another time a colleague in a place, only to find on arrival they are somewhere else entirely. This never happened before covid and I'm convinced it's some post-covid social weirdness going on.

Example 1 - I was due to meet a friend at a train station to then walk to a concert venue. Upon arrival at the station she messaged to say she actually was already in the queue at the venue. So I walk to the venue and in the end I met her inside.

Example 2 - in this scenario today I was meeting a colleague at a conference local to me. She was keen for us to meet and walk there together as she didn't know the area as well.

I went out of my way to go to a specific station to meet her (arrived 5 mins early too) only to find she had already walked to the venue by herself.

Now before covid this never happened. Never. You arranged to meet someone somewhere you met them there - it wasn't open to interpretation depending on how you felt in the moment. It is just me?

YABU - who cares if you're going to the same event, it's all the same
YANBU - they're rude

I agree they shouldn't change the plan last minute and in both those cases it was rude and unhelpful, but I don't agree it is a covid / post covid thing.

I'd say there is a BIG correlation between this being a thing and people all having mobile phones. Pre-mobiles, people stuck to arrangements far better than "the population as a whole" do now.

I can understand your frustrations

I don't think it's a covid thing, I think two isolated incidents don't make it a thing.

The colleague was rude. The friend was rude if you were on time.
