AIBU to get annoyed about online shopping

We are really lucky to be going abroad on holiday at the start of the six week holidays, so I've been purchasing a few bits and bobs online to take- new knickers because it's the law for a foreign holiday lol, shorts and t-shirts for the kids, a few items of clothes for DH and myself.
Almost everything has taken weeks to arrive. Weeks!
Nearly every single item has needed go back as I have received the wrong colour/size/completely different item. Some things still haven't arrived and I doubt they will ever.
Then it's up to you to generate returns online, go to the specific shop to print out labels, wait for your refund (on the item only, not the P&P, because it was my fault in some way that I have received the wrong item).
These are not small local shops.
I want to just go to the high street but its dire and they never have anything in the size that I want, and I'm a regular high street size.

I feel like I'm keeping Evri single handedly afloat.

Get a grip online shops!

Just wanted a rant really. I miss the high St, I miss Debenhams, I just want some knickers in the right size that fit me!!!!!!!!

Arrrgghhhhh.
(Lighthearted, kinda...)

I know what you mean. I live near a small City, but the choice of clothes shops is pretty grim.

So I bought stuff on line, but it is hit and miss. I bought a couple of tops, really liked them, so bought a couple more in different colours. When they arrived they were different material, much more polyester than cotton and different style! Not the same top at all, but I followed the same link and just selected "blue" rather than "red".

Drives me nuts.

Oysterbabe · 20/06/2023 22:29

Where are you buying this stuff from? Wish? Anything I order arrives in days.

GottaGirlcrush · 20/06/2023 22:29

This is not my experience!!

Which shops are taking so long?

ALittleBitAlexa · 20/06/2023 22:30

Hmm not my experience either. Buy from reputable companies with free delivery and returns. ASOS for example, I use them loads and rarely have issues. Box Avenue for pants.

*Boux...

If you enter Ex high Street on Amazon search you can get some good bargains, l got some lovely underwear, half the price than in store.

FurryFurbie · 20/06/2023 22:33

You have been unlucky. I haven’t had this experience at all and I do a lot of online shopping! Why is everything taking weeks? H and M and Hollister take a bit longer than some other shops but never weeks and weeks.

Chopbob · 20/06/2023 22:34

No, not wish
Adidas was one...took weeks, wrong size.
Sugarhill Brighton...the sizing was bizzare. 2 tops same size in different colours were about 7 inches difference in width.
La Redoute...sent the wrong items.
I honestly despair.
Next have always pretty good tbf.

I also bought from ASOS- ordered mens toms, they sent the same colour in womens which were super narrow on DH, so I really am ordering from reputable shops

You should be getting the postage cost back and free return delivery if they've delivered the wrong item. Insist on that. It's the law. Where you don't like the item, you can get the outbound delivery cost back if you tell them that you.want to return your order within 14 days (you'll need to push most businesses for this though).

phoenixrosehere · 20/06/2023 22:43

Sorry, I don’t have this issue either.

My delivery driver for Evri, is always the same person and I always get emails of the day and exact time frame (usually between two hours). Same with other high street shops and Amazon. ASOS, I just paid for the premium delivery, but haven’t bought from them since before the pandemic. Could it be your location?

A bit off topic... but I always take my oldest knickers on holiday and then just throw them away rather than bringing them home to wash. Nobody sees them but me... So I'm not going to waste lovely new knickers!

Me too. And socks.

I buy everything online and usually receive delivery within 2-3 days.
The longest recently has been some makeup which took a week, but when I queried noticed that it came from one of their "partners".

I order regularly from M&S, Cos, Arket, Next, Skechers, Sports Direct, Look Fantastic, Feel Unique etc and never wait longer than 2-3 days.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/06/2023 07:55

Not my experience, either. But I’m very selective about who I order from.

Me neither. Fast delivery, free returns and definitely if the mistake is theirs and I print the labels myself.

cocksstrideintheevening · 21/06/2023 08:21

Not my experience either. Evri had a bad time during covid but are way better now.

yellowsmileyface · 21/06/2023 08:36

It does sound like you've been particularly unlucky, but I feel ya.

I hate online shopping. Even if I get sent the right size, women's sizes are so sporadic, there's no telling if it'll fit until I try it on.

And I hate having to send stuff back. I have ADHD and that is exactly the kind of task I really, really struggle with no matter how objectively simple it is.

But I like to dress up for dinner etc on holiday so it's nice to take nice clothes and underwear. Probably depends on the type of holiday, if I was camping or something I could see your logic. But I just bring the underwear home and add it to my collection so it's not a waste?
