Boris is propped up by women of “a certain age” supporting him

Dickhead statement by Twitter obsessed husband tonight…

Anyone care to share actual statistics? Though I’m not sure where “a certain age” may fall within those.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 19/06/2023 22:47

No idea about statistics but the last person I saw supporting Johnson was a rather stubborn male member of another forum who flounced when others disagreed with him.

TheHandmaiden · 19/06/2023 23:00

No stats but I reckon there are many like Nadine Dorries. A lot of people fooled by that rambling posho act and "how could he talk to little me".

I cannot wait until the Lying Lord of Lard takes his bullshit act back to the right wing press and becomes an end of the pier act as he always should have remained.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 19/06/2023 23:04

Hmm tbh I see what he's saying. Every single twitter thread is full of women describing themselves as 'Conservative, brexiter, love my country, anti women etc who seem to fall between 50 and 70. Obviously these aren't his only supporters but he does seem to attract these types, it seems they are dazzled by the waffling and odd word of Latin!

Northernsouloldies · 19/06/2023 23:04

If he said "it was daylight outside" I'd look out a window to check. No I don't believe women prop up the corrupt lying fucker.

StormShadow · 19/06/2023 23:04

All modelling suggested men were more Tory voting than women in the last GE. Or does he mean Nadine specifically?

ssd · 19/06/2023 23:16

Us middle aged women get the blame for lots of things but thank fuck getting a party of arrogant entitled bastards into power isn't one of them

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/06/2023 23:17

Not by this one he isn’t.

Arsehole.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 19/06/2023 23:19

That would be Carrie then.

OwlBabiesAreCute · 19/06/2023 23:46

I just want to know who the '7' were...

Anybody know?

OwlBabiesAreCute · 20/06/2023 00:16

For those interested:

The seven Conservative MPs who voted against the report were Bill Cash, Nick Fletcher, Adam Holloway, Karl McCartney, Joy Morrissey, Desmond Swayne and Heather Wheeler.

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/06/2023 00:42

Is he talking about Lia Nici and Nadine Dorries? I don't think Theresa May and Jess Phillips are fans.

These women describe themselves as "anti-women"? Sounds very self-aware, but can't say I've ever seen this! I think there's definitely a "Boris demographic", but I wouldn't say it's any more women than men. I hope the UK isn't importing the lazy knee-jerk US trend of simply blaming Shrodinger's endless and inexhaustible women for EVERY bad electoral decision with lots of huffy misogynistic vitriol and no proof/stats/evidence.

Oh do fuck off.

Triptoqueen · 20/06/2023 05:08

I don’t think anyone loves him. Just the media keep flogging this dead horse story.

When he got in TMay had been PM and mucked up, Brexit was a shambles, no opposition anywhere so who else was there.

Bit like Scotland - only half the pop want independence but who else is there to vote for - labour opposition disappeared somewhere, all hate the Tories so snp get votes. And the media just stoke and stoke the independence stuff.

Just like Brexit- the media and Gov have no clue what the population actually think.

nettie434 · 20/06/2023 05:13

Thanks for that link @StormShadow. I was interested in the gender/age voting divide which does suggest that it wouldn't be wrong to think Boris Johnson has more supporters among women voters aged over 65. However, the damage has been done by men like Michael Howard, Max Hastings (although he is now very critical of BJ), the Barclay brothers and all the other Boris enablers throughout his career.

RosaGallica · 20/06/2023 06:33

It’s not evidence, but Johnson’s flagship policy was getting Brexit done, and that was voted for by more men than women. I see him surrounded by men more than women in photos and film. I reckon your dh is falling for - and promulgating - standard British misogyny. It seems a reflex action for men to blame the nearest female for everything while taking no responsibility themselves. You might want to keep an eye on that.

LlynTegid · 20/06/2023 07:10

It's not just women, though how any woman can support him given the way he has treated those in his private life is beyond me.

Four of the six recorded as voting no to the Privileges Committee (thought it was seven) were men.

Lisbeth50 · 20/06/2023 07:16

The only people I've met who have seemed to like Johnson have been middle-aged or elderly men.

pickledandpuzzled · 20/06/2023 08:21

I talk to mainly women, due to circumstances. I'm shocked at the number who feel he's being picked on. Poor Boris.
Oh he has been naughty but I still love him.

It's the tolerance for childishness that some women have that does it.

What's the demographic of these women? It certainly isn't all women. I don't know anyone, male or female who likes him. Must ask my brother and his wife though. There's a slim chance that they might.

StormShadow · 20/06/2023 08:33

The best evidence we have is that men were more likely than same aged women to support both the Tories in the 2019 GE and Brexit.

Lottapianos · 20/06/2023 08:38

'I'm shocked at the number who feel he's being picked on. Poor Boris.

Yes, that's exactly it. Endless indulgence of his behaviour, like he's a cheeky schoolboy instead of the 59 year old compulsive liar that he is

The three members of the Boris cult that I know are 2 women in their 70s and one woman in her 60s. And they honestly do love him and will forgive him ANYTHING. Nothing is his fault, he was set up, he almost died of COVID but rolled out the vaccination program single handedly, he had Ukraine to sort out, he got all the big calls right, and if he lied here and there, oh well all politicians lie, big deal. It's just maddening

Watercoloursky · 20/06/2023 08:50

Not all women - definitely not this woman! - but there might be a connection with the fact that the Daily Mail (unlike all other nationals) has a majority-female readership?

pickledandpuzzled · 20/06/2023 10:19

The women whose words I quoted are over 60.
One mainly a housewife who panders to her husband.
Another worked all her life, decent job.

I was shocked. Really shocked. I can't imagine a man speaking like that. They tend to defend him in a different way - why not if you can get away with it, he was right etc.

This tolerance for someone's irresponsible, feckless, criminal arrogance while being able to see it, is what shocks me.
Like they hold him to a lower standard because of who he is, rather than a higher one.
